Its funny to me that Denver has better odds than Oakland. I think Oakland will finish in 2nd this year. I really think Denver took a step back this off season, and will be lucky to win 6 games while I think the raiders may be a 7-8 win team

With our cakewalk schedule, I won't be comfortable about winning a Super Bowl unless we win at least 13 regular season games. We should definitely earn the #1 or #2 AFC playoff spot and get that bye week again. Let's hope this team has learned and improved from that last playoff loss. There's no reason this team can't win it all.

Jason Campbell in yet another offense? Poor guy. Watch the Raiders improve this season only to have Al Davis fire the entire coaching staff yet once again leaving Jason Campbell in a new offense for the.... what is it? 7th time?

Just thinking about Jason Campbell's past, present and future situations demands a new Simlie request...

Pats fans can't be happy being behind the Jets.

Hate to say it but this is about the time Belichick usually pulls a SB out of his ***.

If you got a great QB who is healthy during the stretch run and a good coach that is about all you need in this league anymore. Pats nip the Cowboys by three in the big game.

I'd be comfortable winning the Super Bowl even if we snuck in at 8-8 again.

Just stating an opinion. But you know soon enough, that will be what 50% of this board will be saying, even if they aren't right now.

You mean that same 50% who already made up there minds before he even coached a game? The same 50% who won't give him a shred of credit for anything that goes right, but ALL of the blame whenever anything goes wrong?

    It's just tiresome.

which is exactly why i say lets not start that NOW, okay? we already know how you feel about the coaching staff as well as many others on the board. no need to damn the coaches before season even starts, new season, clean slate imo. just enjoy the ride. and what lizard said too.

Yep, that 50%. IMO, until he wins the SB, which is what he was brought in to do, then he is just as much of a failure as Marty.

I was talking about our record going into the playoffs and how I'll feel before the playoffs kick off.

Of course I'll be :abq1: if we win the Super Bowl!

    Ok, that makes more sense.

The wording made it sound like you were talking about after the fact.

Oh boys, just be confident, there's a new season.
Our opponents will be stronger on the field than on paper
(AFC south / NFC west) so if we get 13-3 again
we#ll win it this time !

It woud be a beautiful thing if we met the Cowboys in the Super Bowl and beat them on their home field. It would be that much sweeter.

    I don't if the regular season ends in 8-8, just as long as they bring home the Lombardi trophy when all is said and done. The three best regular season for the Chargers teams ended their seasons the same way as one and done after the bye;

1979 12-4 season ending loss to the Oilers.
2006 14-2 season ending loss to the Patriots.
2009 13-3 season ending loss to the Jets.

I no longer see winning a bye as beneficial.

    I do

From the inception of the wild card in 1978 (and the accompanied bye week) through 1989 10 of 11 Super Bowl winners had a bye week and 10 of 11 of the losers had a bye week. (This doesn't count the strike shortened 82 season)

From 1990 (when they added 4 more wild cards) until the present, 15 of 20 Super Bowl winners and 16 of 20 Super Bowl losers had a bye week.

Overall, that means 25 of 31 Super Bowl winners and 26 of 31 Super Bowl losers during seasons with a bye week available had a bye week.

Just because the Chargers didn't make the most of their opportunities doesn't mean the benefit is not there.

Good point, but it does not seem to help the Chargers lately, though I have been reminded that in the Chargers Super Bowl year they had a bye.

    It's a perception thing.

Every year there's at least 2 teams who earn a bye and fail to make it to the Super Bowl.
