LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers have been showering the offensive line with praise this season.

The linemen, in turn, are paying the love forward, crediting their two new position coaches with refining their skills, increasing their knowledge and improving their performance.

“They have us prepared for every situation,” right guard Mike Goff said.

Jack Henry was hired as offensive line coach this offseason to replace the fired Carl Mauck. A short while later, head coach Marty Schottenheimer added Hal Hunter as an assistant. Schottenheimer's thinking was that two coaches would be able to offer more individualized instruction to a relatively young offensive line.

Henry's main focus is the running game, while Hunter's expertise is the passing game. Players have appreciated the extra attention to detail in workouts and meetings.

This line's strength is in its athleticism and aggressiveness. Tomlinson has said he has seen the line benefit from running plays it is comfortable with.

“They have different ideas they can bounce off each other and bounce off us,” Nick Hardwick said of Henry and Hunter. “I think they've done a real good job suggesting things to the offensive coordinator. He knows they're really bright. And they do a good job of suggesting things to him they know we can handle – things that are real, things that work.”

    Nice read.

Isn't it great have Big Ten beef in there. Those boys are corn fed and played in studly colleges.

Not like the Beathard era with obscure dudes from Bethune Cookman and Alcorn State.

Anyone think McNeil has a legitimate shot at the probowl?
