So I guess this means I was just 1 week too early on the Rivers bashing?

Or just 1 week ahead of the curve depending on how you look at it.

To be honest has any QB in chargers history been Clutch? Brees looked good but no where near what he is now, prehaps it's something with this franchise that holds players back.

    UGH...
Week in and week, out we KNOW what the problems are. YET...it's same $hit.
    Poor tackling.
    Not leaning on Mathews.
    Weird play calls.

I really don't know how to look this up, BUT, the main criticism I have with Rivers is that he seems to check out of/change plays way too much. And when he does, it's a pick. I could be wrong, but that's just how it seems to me.

Mike Goff tweeted last night that playing down to the competition was the Charger Way. He removed that tweet today, but it's pretty sad when one of the best LGs in team history is willing to come out and say it.

I really can't recall a worse defensive effort than what I witnessed today. Rivers can't be held harmless but to blame this fiasco flatly on him is wrong. No player is perfect but when the whole damn defense lays down something is terribly amiss.

And once again, since the Raiders won, we're in LAST place.

Watching the Donks and the Chefs, I can't believe both teams have guys that can tackle not to mention cover on pass routes.

20 points over 4 quarters isn't atrocious, particularly when you have absolutely no pass rushers with any talent what so ever.

The offense had chances (plural) to win this game, the Fins only scored 3 points on their final 4 possessions and we were within 1 score the whole time. So underwhelming as the defense may be they gave the offense a chance today, just like they did last week...and the offense keeps punting the ball away or settling for FGs.

Rivers bashing is open but are we ok yet with calling McCoy a clueless wonder?

I think the difference today is the offense finally had the ball last. It wasn't their usual 3 an out and a punt with 3 minutes where the defense takes the blame.

    Well here's your sign people.

Actually the difference is the defense can't force a stop without help from the officials or a total brain fart from the opposing offense. Not many teams can fall into a pool of shyte and come out smelling like a rose unless they're playing the Chargers, just the facts mam, just the facts.

Agree that the Defensive effort sucked, but the offense needs to get more than 20. It's been awhile since we expected the D to keep the opponents below 20.

The defense came up with 2 big stops on 3rd and short late in the game. Gave the offense an opportunity twice, and they did nothing with it. Whether its the play calling or the individual players on offense themselves, someone has to make a play/call, because this team has lost too many close games.

I agree, but when a team is depending on a rookie wide receiver to carry the load, not to mention a running back who can't be counted on you have to have one hell of a defense to win these type of games. It's just the way it is, no one likes it and there is no quick fix.

No question that the talent level sucks. We knew that going into the season. Same as last year. AJs later drafts sunk the team, it'll take a couple years of good acquisitions to bounce back.

It's just a sad state of affairs and I for one hope it can be turned around sooner rather than later. I didn't anticipate a Super Bowl run this year, one thing the Bolts have proved to me. They are consistently inconstant.

Agree. On the positive side, at least we're not repeating the Prothro/Henning/Riley/Gibride debacles.

Prothro knew talent, he just couldn't coach it.

And there is the issue, the D has been terrible but they haven't been getting shelled to the tune of 30-40 points (outside of week 1 and 2) so the games are not out if reach.

It's not like on every single loss so far the offense hasn't had a chance to WIN on a final drive in the 4th. We wouldn't be the first team in history to have a defense ranked 25 or lower to have a winning record, but Rivers seems to lack that clutch factor.

If you don't have enough bullets in your gun you're not going to kill them all. Pinning it all on one guy and one drive is, well stupid.

OUR RED ZONE LOOKS MORE LIKE DA BLUE SPECIAL AT KMART! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kmart)

We're worst than San Jose State U. In the RZ.. at least they "kinda" score in the red.

I agree, I'm just saying Rivers is my primary suspect right now, on the basis that even up to last week people here we're shouting at me insisting that he is an elite QB. Losses in this fashion aren't typical of elite QBs, yet it's become common place here this season.

But yeah a big part of being 4-6 is definitely defense, another is McCoy/Wiz (especially against WAS).
