Irony... where Phil throwing the interception is actually better for us than him taking the sack.

You obviously haven't read all my posts. I'm not excusing Rivers entirely, nor have I ever. I'm saying that if you can't step INTO throws (that actually requires space that isn't there because there's an OL in that space), you can't get proper velocity or spin on the ball (that's basic mechanics of quarterback play) which make for inaccurate passes.

It's a joint effort. But Rivers should be dung more for his poor decision-making - both under and not under pressure - than he should be for "short, floating throws".

Because we got better field position out of it (not an entirely moot point, though still a bitter pill to swallow). QB's are taught in those 4th and NEED situations to throw the ball - though typically deeper than that - because (most of the time) the worst case scenario is it's akin to a punt.

So you are saying that all the times Rivers throws off of his back foot, it is because of the pressure? I fully disagree. Most of the back foot passes I have seen is when Rivers scrambles and gets lazy with his feet. There have been times when the pressure causes it, but it is less than half the time from what I have seen.

Rivers mechanics are crappy for the last 2 seasons, and it is more than the OL.

And if that Bronco would have just dropped it, the Broncos would have gotten the ball 15 yards up field, what a dumb play!

My mistake. I thought you were talking about why Rivers didn't just drop it. We're in agreement, though Leonhard (the Bronco) should have knocked it down, not just dropped it. Dropping it still leaves open the possibility of the receiver making a grab - particularly since once you touch the ball the receiver has carte blanche to go through you to try and make the catch himself.

The Draw play didn't work when we should have run it...it also doesn't work when we shouldn't.
