How much tape have you watched of Liuget's? He's far, far more than a prototypical penetrating UT. Other than Dareus and Jordan (who yes, I would have preferred, but let's face it... AJ rarely drafts from the Pac-10) he's the most versatile DL in this draft. He can play three 4-downed lineman positions and all three 3-downed linemen positions.

liguet is good. How good I'm not sure. Took him over jordan. So he must be fairly good. Sure would have liked trading down a few spots there. Which is what was possbily trying to get done with how much time elapsed.

CD, you should be happy with this pick. At least Liguet is FROM Miami.

Why not Jordan? It's like AJ can't make an obvious pick. This reminds me of the English pick, but I hope I am wrong.

ok in 18 picks 4 qbs 3 DTs 2 WRs that is half the players drafted in only 3 positoins. 3 DEs Prince finally. EH IMO this whole 1st round has been as mediocre as the draft class has been. Id hate to beleive it, but I will say it that the days of a FEATURE back are very DEAD.

I am not opposed to some more SD action tonight, but im pretty sure we are set for the night.

He's got weight and girth on Jordan. And for as much as guys on here as little ago as three to four weeks were barking for BEEF, you can't fault AJ for giving you what you want.

There are your scouting reports on the kid. This is, IMO, an underrated pickup. Stings some because Jordan was on the board, but I get the feeling that AJ didn't think Jordan would fall and has been fixated on Liuget for a while. Can't fault him for taking the strong run defender... particularly when we needed more of a 5-Tech that can play the LDE as opposed to RDE where Castillo should be more effective.

If Cameron Jordon turns out to be a beast...AJ will be kidnapped and taken out into the desert!

    Yeah I'm just venting.

He reminds me way too much of Glenn Dorsey....who the Chiefs have tried to pawn off because he's such a bad fit in their 3-4.

Dorsey had/has short arms, an only moderate anchor, he didn't have the literally destructive hands that Liuget has, and a lot of Dorsey's selling point was his fantastic first step as a pass-rusher.

Liuget lacks elite first step, but has a BEASTLY initial punch (literally, you can see bruises on the OL guys he's faced by the end of games), an extremely stout anchor, and 33 1/4 inch arms (which I'll double check, but are only about an inch shorter than Jordan's are).

He's from Miami. From Dade County. Was recruited and offered a scholarship to the U.

    Holy Cleveland Phil Taylor!

I think this draft has gone pretty much as it should for the teams and their picks so far.

Saying that thou...Carolina will regret taking Jordan...he will be a bust IMO (He will a slightly more successful Russell)

Von Miller is a great pick for Denver, and Atlanta will enjoy having Julio Jones

fun draft though. Alot of trading. LIgeut will make us better. the two second round picks for us will make this draft for us. I'm hoping one is the texas olb. That would make our front d-7 really strong.

Just for f-ing once I'd like to see AJ draft a guy from a MAJOR program. But hey at least I've heard of Illinois... in fact they were good in the early 1960s. At least it wasn't some mystery pick from North Central MidWestern Wyoming State or some other BFE type of program. I get sick of picking guys who are projects because they played at small time colleges. We need guys who can step in NOW not Vaughn Martin/ Cam Thomas/ Ron English type guys who need 3-4 seasons to break into the starting rotation.

COunt me as a little disappointed in his pick.

Be as positive as you want....but be honest, you think (as well as everyone else) that Cameron Jordan is a better player.

I was against 3-4 DEs to begin with, but it makes me even more frustrated when we don't take the best one on the board.
