Offseason program hits stride

    While the kickoff of the 2006 season is still more than five months away, the Chargers have already begun their offseason conditioning program.

    For the next 15 weeks, strength and conditioning coaches Dave Redding and Matt Schiotz will lead Charger players through an array of drills to help their bodies survive the grueling NFL season.

    "Durability is what we provide the most," Redding said."  "These guys are already bigger, faster and stronger or they wouldn't be in the NFL."  What we provide for them is the ability to stay durable and in great shape."  We have to get their bodies ready to participate in 20 football games and be durable through that."  Our training helps guys stay healthy, prevent injuries or play through injuries."</blockquote>
