Doubt it, he would be best served I think by going on the practice squad unless the team wants to release its #4 corner in Cletis Gordon

Oliver is so on the bubble:

    Points for him:

    Good speed
    The Int last night
Slowly starting to pick up his game
The 4th round pick we blew to get him
Cletis Gordon's poor play in the secondary and ST
Sending him to the PS may get him stolen by another team

    Points against him:

He is very slow in coming up to speed, kid needs time on the PS
Weddle is on the team and he can play corner if needed so no need to keep 5 CB's
Doesnt seem to be the brightest kid

All in all I think he deserves to be on the PS, but he'll make the team because we cant afford to let him be stolen.

Not just because he's my adopted bolt... BUT, I have NO DOUBT in my mind that Oliver makes this squad. He will NOT clear waivers and I highly doubt the front office wants to waste a 4th rounder on this compensatory pick. He's shown just enough to warrant his selection. OLIVER IS HERE TO STAY.

Are you guys seriously thinking Oliver wont make the team???

This is a guy that would of been a top 10 pick next year who AJ thought enough about to use a 4th round pick (consider that we dont have a 3rd next year and AJ LOVES draft picks), and is a guy that is just now starting to get into football shape.

Remember he hasnt been here as long as other rookies and is still learning the playbook, but once he gets that down, it wouldnt surprise me if he pushes Cromartie for the starting spot and even if he doesnt get it, he will be one of the best Nickel corners

He has great size (6'0 208), pretty good speed (4.5) and unlike Cromartie, the guy is extremely physical! He also has pretty good ballhawking skills

I was absolutely thrilled the day we "drafted" him, and still believe he will be the guy that softens the blow of losing Florence, not Cromartie

When we drafted Oliver, I felt like it was an insurance move in the case of Cro not working out. I know that sounds silly, but it may just end up working like that.

I think he sticks....... he would be lost were we to try and get him to the PS, no doubt some team would poach him.

    I have a funny feeling about Jue not making it though. I still see us going with the following CBs;

    Jam, Flo, Cro, Gordon, Oliver.

Gregory goes but gets picked up by another team (Jets or Giants just watch!!) and goes onto being a v reliable no. 3 CB in that teams backfield.

Sure I would rather see Gordon and Oliver make it over Jue. However that leaves us with only 3 safeties unless we keep Battle. So far Oliver has the nod over Gordon. He has played just as well as Gordon has during the preseason and is younger with less experience then Gordon. Additionally Oliver was a better CB than Gordon in college and one of the biggest reasons we picked Gordon up was his kick return ability, which we no longer need and which he has done poorly at in TC and preseason.

We spent next year's 4th on him. No way he doesn't make the squad. We committed a spot to him being on the team this year the second we drafted him.

    Nobody accused p88f of that.

The point is the dude was DRAFTED which is generally an automatic or a no brainer he is on the 53 man squad.

Cutting him would also make the brain trust look like idiots .......

Going to the PS would be the same as releasing him. Not going to happen. It would be like throwing away a draft pick.

Oliver's roster spot is in jeopardy just as much as Chandler or Legs' roster spots are. Probably even less since it was a future 4th round pick that was spent on him.

Man, if he gets cut we would miss out on calling him that.

    Tough loss.

There should have never been any doubt.

You don't just go willy nilly with future draft picks. The fact that the Chargers selected Oliver with a 4th round supplemental pick, thereby sacrificing next year's 4th round pick, Oliver's roster spot in 2007 was all but cemented.

Our coaches and team management are smarter.

They only pick players on the first day or with the supplemental draft that are actually good enough to make the team for at least a season.

Hey Sluggo - wanna read a funny on the faiders? Apparently he (Moss) was cut by a freaking administrative mistake!

I wonder if they all just say "my bad" Evil Al will understand and not fire anybodies *** over this? :icon_huh:

Read this article on the Cardinals site - they are understandibly ELATED!

Yeah, although I think that's satire more than reality as I stated.

From Jerry MacDonald's Raiders' blog, who attends most of their practices, preseason games, and talks to the players, Moses wasn't as good as they hoped. He was poor in run defense, and was getting worse at pass rushing.

I am not sorry but I had to do a lot of this: :icon_rofl:  :icon_rofl:

I think Don Johnson is going to need a new job soon. His employment with the Faiders will be at an end. :icon_rofl:

The Cardinals just stole a Faider Mistake. Classic. :icon_rofl:

Now to get back on topic.

Oliver made the team and I hope he will be just like Jamal Williams is as a Supplimental Draft Super Star.
