SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Ollie Wilson, who coached LaDainian Tomlinson as a rookie, rejoined the San Diego Chargers as running backs coach Thursday.

Wilson spent the last six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. He received a two-year contract to work under Norv Turner.

The Chargers also agreed to new two-year contracts with special teams coach Steve Crosby, quarterbacks coach John Ramsdell and offensive line coach Hal Hunter Jr.

Wilson previously coached with the Chargers from 1997-2001, under Kevin Gilbride, June Jones and Mike Riley.

Under Wilson's tutelage in 2001, Tomlinson set team rookie records with 1,236 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns and 1,603 total yards from scrimmage. His scrimmage mark also broke Hall of Famer Lance Alworth's 36-year-old team record.

Very happy with what Norv is doing with the staff. Keeping Ramsdell and Hunter is very important, and I am very happy with Wison and Joiner being brought in. Norv definitely has an idea on what he wants his staff to be.

Agreed. I'm glad we have an owner who is letting him build the staff he wants.

Something that Norv didn't have in Washington or Oakland.

I still think Norv is a weenie....

But I am glad he went for a guy who was part of the Charger family.

How does a wienie go from 1-3 to the AFC Championship game in his first season as the Chargers coach?

Dude has the keys to the Ferrari.
Norv just needed to keep it on the road.

Give Norv credit for realizing that the Ferrari had but two gears. The transition to a four speed took time, but Norv's persistence paid off. We now have a well balanced offense to go along with our well balanced defense. Next year we put the pedal to the metal!

And people wonder why Norv had problems winning in Washington and Oakland.

When your owner gives you a crap team, tells you who to hire and what players to play, and then expects you to win division titles with them, why is it a surprise that you can't make chicken soup out of crapola?

Just listen to the Redskins fans talk about Dan Snyder, especially now during their HC search. And from that Norv went to Oakland. Need I say more? :icon_shrug:

I wasn't in favor of Norv's hiring, but the dude persevered through a lot this year & took the team further than anyone since Bobby Ross. Got to give him his due.

Ref our new running backs coach... anyone know what Shelmon is actually doing now that Norv is here. Is Norv not de facto OC too?. Does Shelmon make good coffee?. I kinda feel sorry for the guy. Maybe he does something useful, I dunno, hope so?...........

True and I give Norv his credit...
he did well and you got to give him props for that..But I still think he's a weenie.

Norv being the glorified puppet head coach that he is, Im not sure how much credit credit to give him for this hire.
Ollie was a good hire though, dude is part of the familia.

Norv could barely get the Ferrari that AJ built up to 65mph because Norv only knew how to shift it to the first two gears.

If and when he managed to kick it up a notch, dude spent most to the time grinding the crap out of the gears !!

One way or another Norv got it up to 65mph and kept it on the road. For that Im somewhat happy.
