At a recent Chargers function, the sprinkling of players and coaches were making like A.J. Smithà ---- save the slick hair and Tommy Bahama shirt.

Each speculated what the Chargers' general manager should do in the upcoming draft, and a consensus was reached: "I think his first two picks are going to be on the offensive line," said a veteran assistant coach. "Up there we are thin."

The skinny on the Chargers' offense is it needs to rely on its blockers more than ever. And the organizational scuttlebutt is it isn't pleased with its batch of big uglies up front.</blockquote>
