How did Sapp get in last year ahead of Strahan? I can care less about either player, but I wouldn't question this if Sapp wasn't such a wierdo about this situation. Strahan has better numbers overall, and probably the most significant DE record (single season sack record).

He was eliminated in the second round of reductions. No one but the voters can say why. My theory is that Strahan had Tuck and Umenyiora with him on his best years, while Sapp didn't seem to have that great a supporting cast, but I honestly have no clue beyond that guess.

It's more like who do we have to pay off to get Coryell some consideration.

Coryell likely won't get in until it's Veteran's Committee selection. Too many guys will be coming up who have a Super Bowl win, and that's all some people can see.

It's not really an apples to apples comparison. Sapp was a DT. Strahan was a DE. Strahan should have more sacks. It does not necessarily mean he was a better player.

Sapp has also been retired a little longer. Plenty of "deserving" players haven't made it in on their first ballot.
