    Remember when this happened:

"Chris Mims faces discipline from the San Diego Chargers for allegedly assaulting a man and taking his tacos during a incident outside a fast-food restaurant." - Union Tribune

LOS ANGELES—Former San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Chris Mims has been found dead in his downtown apartment.

Police say the 38-year-old Mims was discovered shortly before 9:30 a.m. by officers conducting a welfare check. Police say there does not appear to be any evidence of foul play while noting that the ex-athlete had suffered from "weight and medical problems."

The cause of death will have to be determined by an autopsy

Coroner's officials declined to comment because relatives of Mims had not yet been notified.
Mims played eight seasons in the NFL, seven with the Chargers and one with the Washington Redskins. He retired in 2000.

What is it with ex players dying so young?. Mims was a great young DE one day. RIP.

What is it, steroids, too much weight too young, letting themselves go completely once the game is over?.....

    Sad, terribly sad.

The didn't even make 40, a horrible shame for his family. Health and weight problems. Sounds like he might have died in a diabetic coma or had heart problems-possibly induced. We'll have to wait for the report.

Mims is the fifth member of the Chargers’ 1994 AFC Championship squad to have passed away. The others are Rodney Culver, David Griggs, Doug Miller and Curtis Whitley.
