The Chargers have won the AFCW the past 3 years (admittedly last year came with a big Bronco meltdown assist)....and 4 of the past 5 years....but I think it's pretty clear that no one in the division sees the Chargers like AFCE opponents see the Patriots....or AFCS opponents see the Colts......a yearly dominant force in the division that will always be around at the end.....where the best hope a rival team has is to start grooming and building with young players and the draft and accept a few subpar seasons to get back and seriously compete....In the AFCW I think we are perceived as a team that is about to hit the wall and decline....and they certainly perceive Norv as a weak NFL Head Coach. They know we aren't making any major moves...and they know that if we outright release LT....we will be a weaker team next year, no matter who we draft.

We have cap space (with or without LT)...and aren't using it and don't intend to.. I have to wonder whether we are truly trying to manage our team....or cut some costs so the Spanoses can buy out and move to L.A. in a year. I hope that we start season some evidence soon that we intend to keep our place as the class of the division and make moves to try to fix some of these holes that we are clearly aware of.

The Broncos....and now the Chiefs....are going for it. They know where the bar is set and are making moves to at least try to get to our level. If we're not careful, someone is going to leap frog us.

That being said....There is opportunity for us too....There is a lot of re-tooling in the AFC and if we keep our roster intact and add one or two key pieces...along with Shawne's return....this could give us an advantage. Keep LT....Focus on plugging our holes on the OL and ILB in particular...and this team could really make a run next year. The window of opportunity is STILL open. WIDE Open. There are no guarantees that Tom Brady is going to be the same player he was....or that this won't be the year that their age on defense catches up with them....There are also no guarantees that the Steelers and other teams won't start getting their share of injuries around playoff time...and maybe this is the year we finally get a break in that area (knock on wood)...as we are definitely due.

Yea because the Jets and Dolphins didn't try to win the AFC East.

Or the Jaguars and Titans haven't tried to win the South.

Any team is vulnerable at the right time. You have one bad year with injuries and anyone can take the division, it happened to the Patriots and Colts and almost happened to the Chargers.

The Chiefs and Broncos have brought in new staffs, it's no surprise that they want to try and make their mark, that's why they were brought in.

I mean they both still have a ways to go before they can really challenge us. Broncos brought in mostly scrubs with the exception of Dawkins who they overpaid for and for too many years. The Chiefs got a better QB and an out of place LB, but they still have lots more problems. So let's not go all out and panic because of minor moves

...The Dawkins deal is like the Flutie deal was. No one expects Dawkins to play out that contract anymore than anyone expected Flutie to play into his 40's. As for the minor moves? Minor moves are all AJ really needs to be making...but he does nothing. Couldn't the Bolts have used Fred Taylor, or Shawn Springs who Washington released when they shelled out 100 million for fat Albert. On a defense needing leadership and safety help...even Dawkins would have helped. He made everyone around him better at Philly.

It's good to have a strong division in the west again.
It will motivate the players. New coaches need time to
get their system running. So let's be happy about a rough way to set the tone for the playoffs again.

NFC East teams won't be weak, too, so the Bolts can't afford a slow start anyway. ..and we have to avoid injuries.
Nr. 16 in the draft can be a starter off or def !
Expect surprises ! Go bolts :icon_banana:

The denver D will turn into a pile of dust sooner or later and Cassell is a fluke, my boy Jammer owned him.

The only reason why the turds don't go 0-16 is because they play the chiefs twice.

Anyone remember what happened to the clippers this year when they were bringing in too much people....yah..
