    Well, considering the following:

    - One pick returned for TD
    - One kickoff returned to the 5 yard line
    - Two other special teams blunders (one long KO return, a muffed onside kick)

You can't hang all 29 on the D. Come on, do the math,

Did you even watch the game?? Special teams gave up big yardage for good field position for the Jets.

The 2 TD'S the Jets had in the 4th quarter, was really just prevent defense at that point. Favre just had those 4-6 yard dink and dunk passes most of the 4th quarter.

The Jets defense ran an INT back in the first quarter, so the defense gave up 22 points, but 15 was in the 4th quarter when we had a big lead. We outscored the Jets 48-22 the rest of the game after we "spotted" them the first 7 points.

3 INT's, one for a TD, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery after we stripped it from the Jets guy.

We are on the right track, hardly from sucking as you had stated.

Now that the cobwebs are starting to clear, I'm coming around to thinking the defense showed marked improvement.

I was however frustrated with several pass plays that looked frighteningly similar to the last two weeks.

Of their 4 scores on the night, only 1 was a drive longer than 20yds.

And on that one drive we had a pass interference and a so called "late hit" on Dobbins that gave them a huge chunk of yards.

Didn't the Jets only have like 150 total yards or something like that at the beginning of the 4th quarter? Then it seemed like we went into prevent mode .. I thought they looked a lot better.

Yardage was about right through 3 quarters if memory serves correctly. The Jets got a bunch of yards in the 4th because we softened up after the game was pretty much in hand.

Overall, I thought it was a good deal better than the previous 2 weeks, though the Special Teams had a collective brain cramp last night...

I believe that I have a different perspective. The Jets did not get more yards in the 4th because we softened up. they went to a 1 and 2 step drop passing game. They would have the ball out in about two seconds to a receiver for short yardage pick ups. When we tried jumping the route they got a short pass that nearly turned into a touchdown.

We were still trying to pressure the QB at that point, but with a one or two step drop, and quick pass it is difficult at best to get to the passer.

Definitely an improvement in the way the players attacked the offense. I tend to think it was more the 0-2 wake-up call & players-only meeting than anything that Fat Teddy did.

they threw alot of wide receiver screens where the other receiver split out wide would run interference against their DB which made it hard to defend against. Sometimes, especially late, there were just situations you couldn't defend against

No argument from me. Our D doesn't suck, but it's the offense that is winning these games. ST's complicate matters, but the defense and the teams share a number of players. I don't think it's bad schemes, it's a loss of concentration and intensity. If Cromartie had stayed focused, he'd be a shoe in for Defensive Player of the Week.

    excuse me Mr. Thesaurus
I don't disagree, and while we need to make improvements sometimes they throw plays out against you that you just can't cover or handle. Picks like that are tough to cover

Even though our special teams played bad, the Jets kickoff returner isn't exactely a scrub. He is one of the best kickoff returners in the NFL. So I give him a little credit, but not much.

    Special teams needs improvment.

Time to kick the crap out of Oakland
