It has the potential to be better than last year, but that isn't really saying much.

Not if the back end of the rotation and the bullpen aren't any good.

Jake is Jake, Chris Young is good (but under appreciated), after that the rotation is pretty bad.

Not that I'd be overly shocked by a 52-110 record but I don't think the roster is quite that bad.

I'm thinking 95-100 losses, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was worse.

Don't worry, you've got 5th place locked up tight.

Not horrible lineup, good balance of speed and then power with OBP. If anything I think there's more potential here then last year's starting line up. But yeah this'll be a 'grin and bare it' til the other savior (Moorad) takes over

This is why San Diego sports fans deserve more credit, we are still here talking about a team like this.

100 losses easy. They have 3 starters who are completely unproven and didn't exactly dominate AAA ball, they have zero depth, and an inconsistent bulpin. Not to mention they'll probably trade Peavy in late July.

Or less, if you look at it the other way, the way SD fans continue to support a losing team that has no real direction or sign of commitment from ownership to build a winning team.

But keep paying to see them play at Petco, a beautiful park that the team on the field doesn't even deserve (save Jake Peavy) and is the reason why the Chargers will probably never get a new stadium in this city (which, IMO, is even more reason to HATE the Padres).

It looks like they are finally playing for the stadium that they have. Only A-Go, Hairston and Giles have HR potential in that park. The rotation is looking ok. Peavy is solid (but likely gone in midseason), Young will come around, and Prior can make a solid comeback in the back of the rotation. I think we have a good shot at 2nd. I dont think we'll see triple digit loses.

    **** that.

You don't have to support the team ownership to support the team.

And the Chargers can get a new stadium, all they have to do is follow suit of the Padres and make it to the sport's championship while they're up for it.

We just have to hope Dean Spanos doesn't get into divorce proceedings further down the line and feel the need to tear the team apart.
