Anyways, I'm done with this conversation.

I'll reiterate the fact that I AGREE TOWERS NEEDS TO BE FIRED.

Heaven forbid I compliment the guy for one thing he's good at, though. I forgot, wanting a guy to be fired means you have to think he's the Devil incarnate and sucks at everything he does.

I dont happen to think he is that good at that one aspect. Like i said, he had a good staff then he traded them all away. He has been the GM for 14 years and i agree, he needs to be fired.

Ill throw out some names that KT got for our pitching staffs

    Adam Eaton
    - Sucked
Kevin Jarvas-sucked but gave him a good contract anyways
Woody Williams-mediocre, but gave us one good year, got rocked before we traded him
    Brian Bohringer-sucked
    Sterling Hitchcock-mediocre
Hoffman-Awesome, .....too bad KT had nothing to do with us getting him
Chris Young- I like Young but but since 2006 he has been barely over .500. I called him mediocre, but i do like him.
    Will Cunanne-sucked
    Matt Clement-Mediocre, underachieved
    Brian Lawrance-Mediocre
Peavy- best pitcher KT ever got
    Dennis Tankersley- sucked
    Oliver Perez-mediocre
Kevin Walker-one good year, took a nose dive
    Tim Stauffer-sucked
Clay Hensley-mediocre, one year starter and then spot
    player
Scott Linebrick- did well for us, thentraded away
Akinori Otsuka- did well for two years, then traded away.
    Justin Germano-sucked
Jay Witasick- Eh, hot and cold, but he was ok then traded away
    Ben Howard-sucked
Brian Tollberg- had two decent years, then fell flat on his ***.

I could add more scrubs and there are a few good ones but im not, going to add guys like David Wells because Wells was probably giving Tower pointers in the minors and he didnt go thru our system. Neither did Rod Beck. Those guys were aging vets who Towers got because they were past their prime. And no, Towers didnt get Ashby, who BTW...sucked. That was Randy Smith who got him who also got us Hofman.

Towers is said to have an eye for young pitching. Getting Seanez and Linebrick was a good thing but they had been in the league for years. Im not dismissing it, im just saying it wasnt because he had an eye for pitching. Those guys were succesful before.

Maybe we can sign Johan Santana and give Towers credit for having a good eye for pitching.

I don't know if its so much that he's good at acquiring pitching, but he does seem to have a knack to pick up some steals.

    Bell
Kouz - He may have gone down hill but what has Barfield done?
Gwynn - still early but so far so good
Hairston - got him for practically nothing
    Linebrink
    Adrian/CY - Great deal
    Nevin
    Klesko

    etc.

The main problem has been the drafting.

He has gotton some good possition players here and there but this topic is about that Towers says his speciallty is his eye for pitching talent and it hasnt overall been very good.

Yeah he got Hairston for nothing and just gave him away for pretty much nothing. He hardly ever keeps anybody when he gets a good aquisition.

Kouz cant hit and neither can Headley.

Hairston was traded because he'll get a significant pay raise for next season. We're not in contention this season so why not get something for him when you can and his value is at its highest?

Headley is still young, and Kouz has done better than the guy we traded for him (Barfield).

Significant raise to us maybe but he wont get a big contract. Not like he is a 24 year old on his way up. And if your talking about getting something for somebody when they can then why the F*ck is Giles still on this team? Talk about somebody making too much money. We werent in contention last year either. I wanted to trade him two years ago.

    1. We tried to trade Giles last season to the Red Sox. He vetoed the deal.

    2. Who thought Giles was going to stink this bad? Now he's pretty much impossible to trade, no one will take that contract with that ****** production. Really the only options are keeping him or cutting him.

Isn't the top prospect that one high school phenom. Although we'd really have to suck to catch up to the Nationals.

I thought the kid was going to take his GED and go to a JC so he can enter the draft. I could be wrong though.
