He was saying that it's not a big deal since it's not a playoff game.

That's BS. This game was basically a playoff game. By making that field goal, Nate essentially won us a playoff game since now we probably get the first round bye (which is basically like a win).

Is he forgiven yet Corona? Carney, Bernershka ( sorry if I spelled his name wrong) and now Nate. I love this kid and I like his chances for a clutch kick anyday!

Don't be fooled. Nobody here threw Nate under the bus for his FG kicking,

Well, maybe a few years ago

His kickoffs are our only complaint

The game was for the #2 seed and a first round bye, being up on the bengals. Without Nate we would have LOST alot more games over the past few years. Perhaps not even made it into the playoffs.

    Nate is clutch IMO.

I still want to see stronger kickoffs but yeah, Nate is clutch. I would say he wasn't even trustworthy in '04, '05, '06, and I said it a few times in '07 to be proven wrong but now there is no one I'd rather have kicking for the team.

That was clutch, there is no other reasonable way to see it.

:deadhorse: Ok everyone, you all know my opinion and I am sure most of you do not agree. For the last time, I will not move on until he makes a clutch kick when it counts. Let me define when it counts...... just look at his two playoff misses when he blew our biggest chances to get to the super bowl. When he can make those then I will move on. :deadhorse:

    Seriously???
The loss to the Jets was NOT his fault alone. Bad field conditions and not a "gimme" distance. The loss to NE was by far not his fault alone. "LONNNGGGG" try just to tie.
Team game and all that. Nate is not the liability of this team. Never has been. He is an asset.

Today was a "CLUTCH" kick. Just admit and move on.:icon_toast:

Come on guys this is nothing new. I told you the rules before we started. It is not about manning up. I have admitted that he has become one of the best during regular season games. He has made some good kicks and yesterday was one of them. He has made steps in the right direction. Kicking is more of a mental game than a physical one. Look at some of the best kickers that have lost their minds. Vanderjat is a prime example. He was one of the best kickers in the league a few years back. At the other end of the spectrum is Morten Anderson. That dude was about 60 years old still kicking.

All I want is to see it done when the season is on the line.

Place Nate in the same position that he was when he missed the two playoff FG's. Tell me that those two playoff misses will not pop into his thoughts. I want to see if he can overcome those thoughts and make the kick. If he can then he has come full circle. I then will abandon my 'I miss clutch kicks" campaign.

Come on LV, I have admitted it was a good kick. I have always said that he needs to make a playoff kick to redeem himself. I am not changing the rules in the middle of the game.

BS. By hitting that FG, Nate essentially gave us one less playoff game we even have to play. So in reality, it's better than a winning playoff kick. I'd rather see him make that kick this week and get a first round bye than see him make it in the first round of the playoffs because we had to play an extra game.

You do realize that most kickers NEVER get an opportunity to even attempt a field goal to decide a playoff game, right? The odds of Nate attempting another one in his career are probably pretty slim.

Morten Andersen, isn't that the same Morten Andersen that missed a kick in the NFC Championship game for the Vikings that would have iced the game against the Falcons? The same Morten Andersen that cost his team a trip to the SB?

You're arguments have ceased making any sense.

Ha, Yes Morten Anderson! The point being is that Vanderjat could not recover mentally and Morten Anderson did recover mentally and had a long career.
