It doesn't sound like they are considering cutting him, but that might be the way I'd go. He's hit his ceiling. He's injured. We're already trying to upgrade the position with Davis. This team will face some tough cuts at the end and I don't think Parker's talent level justifies keeping him around vs. some of the younger guys with upside we'll probably have to cut loose.

I can't see him getting cut. Maybe putting him on IR, but I hope they don't do that, either. I'd just assume keep him on the roster. We're going to need the depth at that position, and guys like Camarillo are practice squad material, if that.

Yes but then he is out until next year.

I suspect the Chargers do nothing and just hold a roster spot for Parker. If Davis goes down and/or Floyd, we are starting to wish we had Parker ready to contribute.

then he'll be out for the season and we should need him when he has rehabbed fully and he is 100%

Trumpy is right, if we IR him, he's done for the season.

Basically, is it worth burning a roster spot for 6 weeks and hope he returns to form by week 7? I dunno, foot injuries are a tough thing to come back from quickly, look at Oben, he's probably 100% now, but he got hurt a season and a half ago.

I'd hate to see one of the younger guys who could possibly contribute in games 1-6 get cut just to save a spot for EP. On the other hand, last game nonwithstanding, EP has been a solid piece to our offense, especially on 3rd down.

THis is tough, could go either way. I have a gut EP is gonna get shut down (IRed), but not cut. Since he's under contract (at a good price) for at least a few more years, and IMO, for all the hard work he's put in over the last few years, he deserves a chance to redeem himself from that series of playoff blunders.

True about the IR vs. cut...If he's IR'ed I don't think we miss him as much as some believe. His role is easily filled by other players.

Some of you people are vicious - trade him - cut him. :icon_eek:

PS.... I have cornered the market on the Playboy Bunny's (I bought what was left) so they are mega valuable now. I will trade for BoltCash - $1,000.00.
PM me if interested and do it soon because these gems will be hot items.

We're not going to cut him or IR him, barring further complications.

So he's out 6 weeks, maybe missing the games against the Bears and Pats. Big deal. Castillo was out for a lot more than that last year, and we didn't IR him.

We'll let him heal up, then we'll be happy to have him heading into week three.

Now, whether he's starting when he returns is a different story. :D

Maybe Parker can smoke some of that weed that EC found on the sidewalk. Then the Chargers could suspend him for four games.

Everybody wins, right? We get to use that roster spot for the first month of the season, then Parker returns to the team to rehab and get acclimated for two weeks.

What’s not to like about this idea?

No IR. I wished we had Floyd when he got healthy last year when our WRs were all banged up but was stuck on IR. We don't need that to happen again.

I think they'll just keep him inactive. I wouldn't cut or IR him because even if you think we have better WRs our WRs are still injury prone and we need to have as much depth as we can, even if he just ends up being the #4.

I thought he was out till the 6th, maybe the 7th game of the season. We have the depth to carry him and he could be needed if guys get banged up later in the season. Parker is also part of this team's chemistry. The decision doesn't have to be made anytime soon. They'll get a better read on his injury in a few weeks. As smart as he is, he might be useful in civvies up in the coach's box.

I have read the injury will sideline Parker for 6 weeks yet the pre-season does not seem to count in the rehab period?

I am assuming Parker will be back in Week 2 or 3 if he need 6 weeks of Rehab since we have 4 pre-season games.

From what I've read about his injury and operation. It may be longer than 10 weeks to heal. And you have to figure his foot and leg will be out of shape from rehabbing that long.

Damn, Stupid rule that they can't put him on the pup list now. Were gonna need that spot for someone who can play.

edit; Is his rehab 6 weeks or 10 weeks. And thats a conservative figure from what I've read. They may have to put him on IR. Depends if the chargers really need to hang onto another good player and not put him on the practice squad where he may get snatched up by another team.

I heard he needed 10 weeks to heal, so it will probably take until week 6 for him to come back then you figure he'll have to get back into game shape.

I don't think he's eligible for the practice squad as a vet, plus players aren't protected on the PS. Any team could sign him and use a roster spot on him while he heals.

    Three options:
    1) use a roster space on him almost the entire season and hope he comes back to play some late & we still need him
    2) IR him and see how the young WRs do and make a decision on him next year
    3) cut him now & go with the young guys with more upside.

I bet we go option 1, but wouldn't lose any sleep if we went option 2 or 3.
