FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots signed rookie offensive tackle Wesley Britt to the practice squad today. The Patriots practice squad now stands at its limit of eight players.

Britt, 24, was originally drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round (164th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-8-inch, 314-pound offensive lineman attended the University of Alabama, where he started 46 career games from 2000-04. As a senior in 2004, the Cullman, Ala. native was named third-team All-America by the Associated Press and first-team All-Southeastern Conference by the Associated Press and SEC coaches. Britt was released by the Chargers on the final roster cutdown day on Sept. 3, 2005.
