Considering recent history, why is it so far fetched to believe that New England would beat the Chargers in the playoffs?

What's so hard to believe about the Bears in the Super Bowl?

If they can make it with Rex Grossman at QB they sure as hell can make it with a 4,500+ yard Pro Bowl QB behind center.

And, while I don't think we'd lose to New England in a rematch I don't see how someone has to be an idiot to disagree. Like it or not, The Patriots are a Super Bowl caliber team and recent playoff history between the two teams isn't exactly in our favor.

The more I think of it, I would kind of like to see Chargers/Bears Super Bowl.

Think about it, it'd be awesome.

Rivers gets another chance to clown Cutler and the Broncos get stuck with pick #31. [IMG]

I can dig it... although I still don't like the idea of that guy having a winning season.

I'm still sticking to Bolts / Eagles. Although I am starting to think Bolts / Saints is very possible.

Uhh... Bruschi retired didn't he? Who the hell do they have on defense? You can't sling the ball all the time and win every game, you need defense to stop the other team too. What a douche.

The more he wins the dumber the Broncos look for trading him.

I'm not a Cutler fan but I hate the Broncos more than I dislike him.

You know what they say about the enemy of my enemy, right?

I'm all for Cutler having winning seasons.

You gotta love sports fans, though.

Two threads on the front page. One linking a writer predicting the Chargers to win the Super Bowl and everyone complains about jinxes and not caring about predictions but wanting to see it actually happen.

This one linking a writer predicting someone else to win the Super Bowl, knocking the Chargers out in the process, and he's an idiot.

Everybody is going to sprain their ankles jumping on and off of the Houston Texans bandwagon.

Even though it was just preseason, Minnesota exposed why Houston is a team destined for somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7.

    Inconsistent run defense
    Injury Prone QB
No back that can get those tough yards
One legitimate outside threat (although their one is a great one)

They may sneak in as the last wild card at 9-7...but that's all I'm giving Houston right now.

The Houston Texans have become the new Arizona Cardinals.

The perennial loser team everyone keeps picking as a "sleeper" only so that they can keep losing.

The irony with Arizona is last year was the first offseason in some time that I didn't hear about Arizona being a "sleeper team" heading into the season.

We're talking about Peter 'I wanna have tom brady's baby' King here right...Of course he's gonna pick the Minute (as in small) men to win it all.

Because they have no LB's and their backfield is about to fall in dust.

Did I mention they have no backup QB's?

    9-7 at best.

Yep. King grew up a Pats fan and lives in Boston. He is a full Pats homer.

It's not a stretch for him to the pick the pats, but they have ?? on D and those get exposed in the playoffs.

Agreed. IMO, AFC is going to be Chargers or Pats and NFC will be Eagles or Bears so this prediction doesn't upset me at all.

    LOL,

This post made me chuckle a little.

I hate New England as much as the next fan of an AFC team, but they are going 13-3 MINIMUM.....unless TB gets hurt again.

Nobody can really stop them offensively, unless you can get pressure on Brady without blitzing. Fred Taylor is going to be their difference maker in January.

Jerod Mayo disagrees with your assessment of the New England linebackers.

A lack of back up QBs doesn't affect them unless Brady goes down, and if he goes down they're not making the Super Bowl even if they had Volek or still had Cassel.

I don't like obsessions over one player, no matter how good he is, anymore than the next guy but Tom Brady is still Tom Brady and he still has one of, if not the best WR corpse to throw to in the NFL.

You're fooling yourself if you think 9-7 is a best case scenario for New England.

Dude I know he's Tom Brady but he's been out a year. I remember when Priest Holmes was one the best backs in the NFL. Thanks to a guy named lights out he sat out the whole season. When he came back he was never the same.

That's just an example, I know the injuries and positions were different but do not put Brady as the top QB in the league when he was out the whole year.

Anybody remember the 2007 AFC championship game? Tom Terrific crumbled to our defense WITH MOSS AND WELKER. The only reason they won that game was because of Marooney and the Defense.

I think Jerod Mayo is the next superstar LB do not get me wrong, but who does he have around him? An aging Adalius Thomas and....?

Solo superstar LB's do not make there defense better if they have no help. Ask Will Witherspoon or Patrick Willis.

I went a little overboard on the assumption with the record but there is no way they'll go back to being the 18-0 team they use to be just because Tom "Terrific" is back. There's much more than meets the eye there..

And they won't ESPECIALLY beat us if we play them the way we're suppose to play.

Of course NE can beat us. But not if we are at home and if we're healthy. Picking the Bears on the other hand is stupid. Cutler in a new system, with no legitimate WR's plus a defense that is only a shell of what it once was will not get past GB or Minn.

    No LB's?

    Jerod Mayo?
    Paris Lenon?
    Tully Banta-Cain?
    Shawn Crable?

Mayo is a beast, Paris Lenon is definetly serviceable, Banta-Cain and Crable are average.

Not the best LB Corps in the NFL but not the worst either.

Peter King picking the Patriots to win it all is the opposite of surprising.

The same Fred Taylor that was constantly getting injured when he was with Jacksonville? You think he'll be playing in January?
