Here are the regular and post season records for Manning since he's been in the league. He's one hell of a regular season QB, but I heard more than a few in the media call him a "coach on the field" and "the best NFL player of all time". Is the best NFL player of all time supposed to choke so often in the play offs? Especially with all the talent and such great regular season performances? The Colts have been "one and done" in the playoffs 6 times during the 12 years Manning has been their QB.

I think this illustrates that the Montana's and other unbeaten SB QBs are a rarity. Manning is a very good QB, arguably one of the best of our time. But in the playoffs one player cant will a team to victory.

Manning in the past had a very small, albeit fast defense, and they could get worn out in the second half. This season his D Line was bigger, but in the end a few plays by the opposing defense made the difference.

Does that make Paidaton a bad QB? Not in my opinion, but I strongly believe it should illustrate that a SB victory as well as for that matter a post season victory is something to be treasured and not ever a given.

Rivers will get us there, I believe that, but it is the supporting cast that will have to help him get a W. There is no one person that can beat another team, it has to be a team effort.

As for last night, I give a ton of credit to the Saints D. They figured out what Paidaton was doing and slowly shut it down. They won the game...

The game in London says otherwise. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Anyways, wins and losses are a team stat so I'm not buying the logic in the first post.

On the other hand, look at who Montana had on both sides of the ball - Jerry Rice, Keena Turner, Ronnie Lott, etc.

Well, in reality, it depends on what team both QBs had around them in this hypothetical game.

    OK how's this ....

All else being relatively equal, Montana would have beaten Brees.

    Happier now? :icon_tease:
