Sorry, that should be "ranks" and "CB"...... damn spellcheck. :cautious:

Wright is only #27...... Sherman is tied for #28. ;)

Wright is a different type of CB--his ability to limit passing plays with sure tackling and to stop screens makes him valuable. But yeah, some of his showings in coverage leave a lot to be desired so far this season.

Most of that score was from his week 1 performance, which was outstanding. He graded out as about average in game 2 which I suspect it has to do with the Seahawks simply not running that many offensive plays (only 35 I believe), and Wilson being a better decision maker than Palmer under pressure.

I think Wright takes a bit more criticism than he deserves at times. He allowed one catch on Sunday against Seattle, and the tackle for loss he had against Harvin was a huge play. I don't always agree with PFF's metrics for grading players, but #27 puts Wright among the top half of starting CBs in the league.

Trying to accurately represent relative quality of cornerback play,
with numbers, is a sweet idea...but stats rarely explain that story effectively.

My criticism of his coverage stems from some of his bonehead penalties when plays break down and his tendency to get burnt by the deep ball. But these are consistency nitpicks--he has shown the ability to cover well.
