    San Diego

CB Drayton Florence may not have helped his chances of holding off last year’s first-round pick, Antonio Cromartie, for his starting job by skipping most of the team’s offseason workout program, as many people in San Diego believe Cromartie’s ascension is an inevitability that will happen in training camp. Florence, as he has done in recent years, spent most of May in South Florida working on speed and agility with other NFL players and set his sights on getting in the best shape of his career. Problem is, his absence allowed Cromartie to work exclusively with the first-team defense. Florence, in the last year of his contract, has started 33 games in his four years in the league, but with his agent and the Chargers still a ways apart on a new deal and the talented Cromartie waiting in the wings, Florence figures to move on after the ’07 season.

unfortunately, talent aside, I don't think the two of them together in a room for a week could figure out how to blow up a balloon.

Sounds more like he's given up on the team and is just trying to make some noise for FA. He prolly thinks he's going to get Nate money.

Even with the head start Cro won't pass up Florence. Florence goes to that camp every year to work on speed. He's one of the hardest workers on the team.

I'm pumped about Cro finally getting on the field too because of his potential, but he's gotta be ready. Florence has that spot locked down and he will until he leaves or gets injured.

I just hope we dont have a Cro V. Flo breakout on the magnitude of Rivers V. Brees.

Face it, if Cro is getting solid experience, and Flo is getting more agility and speed, its a win win baby! Whom so ever comes out on top will be the best player with a damn solid back up.

So lace them up, line em up and let the best man win! :bolt:

I agree, in no way does this indicate that Florence has started to distance himself from the team.

Props to him for continuing to try and improve his game. And I question how beneficial it really would have been to stay in SD. He already knows the coverages.

It's all good, since it IS beneficial for Cro to get those reps.
