I will get my tighty whiteys in a buch ifin I wana!:icon_banana:

I hope he is as good as advertised, I really do. I have nothing against him. But I wont blow a lot of smoke up people's collective arse's for him.

And About Big Ben, isnt Rivers supposed to be better than him? And Montana, and Bradsham, and Unitas, and (insert NFL great QB name here) by what the PR zealots are selling?

I don't kneel at the church of Philip Rivers, but prior to the 2004 draft I wanted him over either Eli or Ben.

What impressed me most about him in college was the fact that he made a mediocre team GOOD. There aren't too many college QB's I've ever seen do that. Take Rivers off of those Wolfpack teams and the get nothing done.

Look at Eli at Ole Miss. They were alright but just that. Look at Cutler, everyone is drooling over his physical talent but he couldn't keep Vandy from being awful. You want to draw comparisons to Leaf, Cutler &/or Losman would be better choices,

Big Ben also elevated his Miami squad, but he didn't show me that "it" factor like Philip did.

The most impressive single game I've ever seen a college QB play was the National Championship game where Michael Vick almost single handedly beat the Noles, a close second was when Philip almost beat the National Champion Ohio State team in Columbus.

His biggest attributes are the ones that can't be measured, whereas is was the opposite with Leaf. That's all I'm saying.

Since when have you been such a negative Nora? Have a little faith Bro. You get disappointed every now and again but the air is always cleaner and the birds are always singing:tup:

I am not being negative. I just will not say PR is the greatest thing since the invention of football.

I have not seen that 'it' you refer to at this level. I treated Drew the same.

But when Drew came in for Fluti in Arrow head, he looked like a Qb, he showed grit, poise, and 'it'. Rivers hasnt showed me that in his starts. It is not because I am a Brees homer. I want him to do well, he just hasnt shown it yet.

This isnt about the Chargers shoulda kept Drew either. That boat has sailed, it was clear long before the FA deadline that the two sides were not going to work together.

My concern now is that PR develope into an NFL QB. People can tell me I have no faith if they want. They are correct, in football I have no faith, the players have to show me what they can do.

So far in the NFL you have to admit, PR has not lived up to his billing.

Now to be fair, he hasnt had much playing time, and that is why the book isnt closed on him. But let me tell you, in camp last season, I watched him badly miss wide open receivers with little pressure. I also did not see that long ball Trumpie and others are drooling over. I was at the San Fransico game, and let me tell you, his interceptions in that game were jr. league mistakes. Last season he tripped over his own feet at least twice, scrambled from phantom pressure.

Thats the PR I am seeing, not the wolfpack PR. I want the wolfpack PR on the bolts. This PR scares the sheet outa me, cause if he fails, we will probably lose AJ as well. AJ has now hitched his career here on PR IMO.

I would have to agree that he has been less than dazzling so far.

I will start to get concerned if he doesn't have the lights go on during preseason. Some guys don't need the snaps and others do. Philip will get the lion share of the reps now, let's hope he starts looking a little more comfortable.

Phillip's gonna go for 300+ and 3 TD's against the raiders in an out and out routing, on the record! And I'll be waiting for the pats on the back when it happens. I think the most important thing is that now he gets all the reps with the 1st squad during the offseason and his relationships with the squad, and chemistry, I think will blossom. In leadership and confidence he reminds me alot of Drew Brees, hopefully he's a Brees with a long ball, that's what I'm talking about! Whatever happens, I can't wait to see him play! On Monday night against those mother f n Raiders!!! OMG I can't wait!:icon_banana: :icon_banana: :icon_banana: :icon_banana:

Good post. I too was into Rivers and felt he was the best fit for us at the time. But I also felt like Drew deserved another chance. One in which he earned it.
