I have been thinking this one over for a few days, and my question to you is this:

What is your prediction for a specific member of the Chargers, which player will have a breakout season and what do you predict their statistics will be like for the year? For example, I Predict that Floyd will have a great year and double his productivity from last year.

This thread should be about individuals only. What are your hopes for some of our players?

    Thanks,

    Pointy :icon_twisted:

I predict Antoine Cason will have 6 or more interceptions, and make the Pro Bowl.

    Matilack;

It's not a bad prediction at all... I like that Cason was studying a lot in the offseason, and he will be a lot more comfortable as the starting corner for us.

I predict that Mike Tolbert and or Jacob Hester will be the “secret weapon” in our vastly improved rushing attack. I’m sure that Mathews will do the job, and we all know what Sproles can do, but both Hester & Tolbert were tailbacks in college and showed last season that they can make some hay late in games, while running to preserve a Chargers lead and to run the clock out.

Tolbert has surprising speed for a bigger guy, and Norv has already expressed a desire to get him more touches this season.

I predict that Donald Butler will lead the team in tackles, despite being less active than people think. He'll be out two downs at a time, maybe more, but lead consistently throughout the season.

I predict that Spillman plays a much bigger role at safety than expected, possibly pushing Weddle for playing time.

    - Rivers has a good but not great year. Makes the PB.
    - Mathews rushes for 1000 yards and 8 TD's, catching 4 more.
    - One of the young wide receivers steps up and takes the #2 spot, and it won't be one that you expect.
    - Gates gets hurt again and has an average season.
    - Merriman has a decent year, but only gets 4 sacks
    - Butler blows up and is in serious running for DROY.
    - Cason starts strong, but fades later in the year after teams get film on him.
    - Oline struggles, forcing quicker throws. Sproles has his best receiving year as a pro.
    - Scifres gets fewer opportunities but makes them count. Makes the PB.
    - Kaeding has an average year, his last as a Charger.
    - Cam Thomas anchors the line with a strong presence in the middle. The Chargers are much better against the run than we think.

i think your close but i think itll be more like this
    - rivers has another great season eclipsing 4000 yards,20tds, and 6 intos
    -mathews hits 1400-1600 yards,12 rushing tds,and 5 receiveing
-ernest smith steps up and is a solid not great number 2 receiver
-Gates is his average self, leading our passing O,but shows age
-merriman has a great year with double digit sacks
-Butler passes cooper by week 8,and leads in tackles, and is our best cover linebacker
-stuckey, shuts down the middle of the field,
-spillman makes a push on weddle postion and might take it if weddle gets hurts,
-cason stays strong, being a young jammer, not the fastest but will be our second most consistent corner
-oline is improved more time in the picket for rivers, and bigger holes for mathews
-cam thomas comes in and stops the up the middle run, with constant pressure,
-vaughn martin will become our starting LE, and our line will get in the backfield
-ath the end of the season kaeding is gone, and we draft the kicker from michigan next year

    1. Donald Butler will supplant Cooper at MLB BEFORE mid-season. Butler will also top 100 tackles by season end and will have 5+ interceptions!

    • Shawne Merriman will return to the heady days of a few years ago and will be considered for Def MVP!! I predict 12-15 sacks and a new big contract from the Chargers

With Vincent Jackson riding the pine - Legadu becomes another Ronnie Harmon but a much faster version.

Bolt fans get bummed when VJ comes off his little hiatus because Lego is on his way to get 1000 yards receiving.

For it has been written .....

Sadly that will never happen because too many "casual" fans across the league will continue to look at Lechler's huge "long punt" numbers and equate that to mean "Best Punter," forget the fact that he generally leads the conference in touchbacks because he can't coffin-corner a punt any better than most collegiate punters and just "legs it."

The only hope to cure that is that the Raiders offense actually produces enough to put them in FG range for Jano more often so Lechler just gets less and less attempts.

I am not sure they can make another Ronnie Harmon. That guy was one of the most impressive players I have ever seen. His ability to pick up 3rd and 4 and 3rd and 5's almost every single time was absolutely uncanny.

If Legs can be half the player Ronnie Harmon was I would be ecstatic. You need guys that just find the line on 3rd downs.

I think Sproles is one of those players. If you have two of them you can be very deadly. Especially this year I think we end up being more a "move the chains" team and longer more sustained drives are where are heading. And that will benefit the team greatly I believe.

TOP & getting off the field on 3rd down will be big keys this year.
