Proof that the 2010 Chargers are insane

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 22, 2010 10:11 AM ET
The Chargers are ranked first in offense, first in yards, and yet they are 2-4.

This, clearly, is insane. Not posting UFL scores at 5 AM insane, but close.

In a article for the Wall St. Journal Friday, MDS puts the whole thing in perspective. Since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, there have been only eight teams that ranked first in offense and defense at any point of the season, for a total of 18 weeks of action.

The combined record of those eight teams at the time they were ranked first in offense and defense was 62-7. I'm not sure what this all means exactly, other than San Diego's special teams coach is lucky to still have a job.

The article below is about the Vince Jackson saga (a pretty good one IMO), but the intention isn't to raise that subject here. I do cite certain content, in order to provide the necessary context for the relevant material.

"It has been clear for months that the Chargers never had any intention of signing Jackson to a long-term contract. At the same time, the Chargers needed Jackson. They admitted that by trading for Patrick Crayton before the season (a move that had a damaging ripple effect on the special teams)." Lose-lose finale to Jackson-Chargers standoff - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

I looked into this further and didn't find much. I found that Crayton had called out ST players and that Turner then gagged him. Is that all there is to this?

Yes I read that article and the whole "a move that had a damaging ripple effect on the special teams" is utter nonsense.

Other than Kaeding, Scifires and Sproles...can anyone name any ST players that CONSISTENTLY play on SD's ST?

This thread lost credibility at it's source... If you take the first letters from Pro Football Talk (PFT) and say it real fast, it almost simulates the sound of a fart. Much like the kinds of articles that they write...

Pointy is right, pft is the international combination of letters for the fart sound. Trust me I know farts. I do them all the time.

PFT is 10000x better and more accurate than Kevin Acee, who only writes what AJ tells him to write

How do you know this? Do you have Acee's phone tapped?

I am in the minority because I like PFT. They are right more than they are wrong.

all this proves is that way too many people put too much into stats. All stats are is a bunch of numbers, and you can do whatever you want with them to make them look good.

Stats are good for fantasy people, but real people look at results.
