One, for beating his old team, but most importantly, we sure seem to be scoring on opening drives of both halves recently. Nothing better than putting pressure on your opponent by scoring to open a half.

Props to Norv for that. And congrats for sticking it to your old boss, Norv.

i think they said that we are like 3rd in the league in points on the first possesion of the game and lead the league in points on the first possession of the 2nd half

    That is just great gameplanning!
Just wish we were a little better at in-game adjustments

Nice thread EC. Norv deserves credit for preparing our team very well. And while I think he blundered in not going for that first 4th and 1, Norv still attacked the Oakland 'D much better than Cam did last year.

It was great to see the WR's getting involved early, and using Manameula as a safety valve instead of LoNeal. All in all, a great win to get this team in first place before our bye week.

    Way to go Norv!

Hopefully he doesn't have some innate phobia of a better than .500 record... Time will tell.

And he can beat Denver. Now if he can beat K.C., we can talk.

Two games in a row where the O looked good. This is a definate improvement, perhaps the players did just need time to buy into Norv's system.

The D took a big step forward against the Raider as well.

Exactly, that little dump pass to LONEAL should be used sparingly... Kinda like we use the halfback pass...

Get the bigger guy involved, LONEAL is a blocking back!!!!

I got to admit, I want to like NORV, & I hope he proves me wrong this season... This was a good win, but still, a terrible Raiders team...

Props need to be given to Cottrell as well. He unleashed the hounds and got pressure all day. Even if it risks the big play down field, I feel much better when Shawn squared are breathing down the QB's neck.

The only problem I have with Manameula is it seems for a guy his size, he seems to go down rather easily. He needs to power his way through those smaller players.

Floyd & Davis: Definitely nice seeing them get involved. I've been saying for a while that Floyd needs more touches. He plays like stick'um is still around. We also need to stop trying the reverse plays, they have not worked yet. Get the ball to Davis vertically.

The Raiders had 49 yards rushing and our big boys on the D-Line were in the offensive backfield ALL DAY LONG. That's what we want to see. :bolt:

I'm just glad somebody knocked the faiders off their #1 rushing team in the NFL high horse. I could probably rack up a couple hundred rushing yards against a peewee team defense too. :rolleyes2:

I'm right here and I'm giving props to Norv because I'm a Chargers fan!!!

Though yesterday was great... Raiders are not exactly a competitive team. But I do agree that Norv deserves some props.
I will not start singing his praises until we beat a competitive team.
WE BEAT THE PONIES... I WILL SING NORV'S PRAISES!!!

We finish higher than last season (meaning a playoff win or two)... I'll believe!!!!

I was thinking "sparingly" as in preseason games only.

    That play sucks.

Once they show they can beat a team that's over .500 and once Philip starts playing more consistently I'll be happy to give him some credit. But so far we've won against two bad AFC West teams. At this point we'd make the playoffs by default.

But I must say that I am seeing improvement and you can tell that the boys are eager to play now. Great signs if you ask me.

    Hope they keep it up.

We get Parker back after the bye right? Hopefully that helps Philip get back on track. I know he didn't have that bad of a game but he does seem very uncomfortable right now. I know it's his second season starting and all but there isn't a 2nd year handicap in the playoffs. He needs to get things going if he plans on making an impact in the post season. I'm hoping that it's just taking a little longer for him to adjust to Norv's system.

The defense is getting warm and playing like they did last year and the running game is heating up as well. Once we get that passing game going it will be hard to beat the bolts. 'till then we're still vulnerable to other teams playing the run.

Yeah, if the Bolts beat both the Colts and Jags, who are a combined 9-1 right now, in back-to-back weeks, then I think everyone will be good with Norv and Ted.

As exciting as yesterday's game was... IT'S THE RAIDERS!!!!

    Anymore questions?

You and others seek to lessen the wins and exagerate the losses. it makes no sense to me. We play whom they put before us. The Raiders had the best O in the AFC west comming into the game. They had the number one running game. Hell our secondary, scratch that, Florence set the tone early and the CHARGERS TOOK THE GAME!!!

You call it a gimme if you want, it is obtuse of you to do so.

I'm NOT calling it "gimme" at all.
Raiders are NOT an AFC top contender and you should know this!!!

So they had the best O in the AFC West.
Against the Lions, Broncos, Browns and Dolphins.

A win against the Retards is ALWAYS good and yesterday was a big thrill for all of us!!!
BUT I WANT TO SEE A MUCH STRONGER TEAM COMING OUT OF BYE WEEK!!!
