As a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Chargers offensive tackle Leander Jordan took up the game of chess. A friend that taught him the game continually pounded one rule into Jordan's head.

"Do whatever you can to protect the king," Jordan said.

It's an adage that Jordan has taken to the football, and it's serving him well. It appears that Jordan will make his fifth-consecutive start at left tackle Sunday when the Chargers host the Miami Dolphins. In that role, Jordan has the difficult task of protecting his king's – or in this case quarterback's – blindside.

"He's done a very nice job for us," Chargers Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "He's getting better every week. That's not an easy position to play, but he's helped us out tremendously."</blockquote>
