Wide receiver Ruvell Martin, a rookie out of Saginaw Valley State, took time out of his demanding training camp schedule to help us get to know him.

Martin spent the 2004 training camp with the Chargers and was allocated to NFL Europe this spring. He was an all NFL Europe selection in 2005 for the World Bowl Champion Amsterdam Admirals and led NFLE with 679 yards receiving and 12 touchdown catches in the regular season. His 12 receiving touchdowns tied the league record.

Is there a TV show you tape if you miss it?
I would say Cops or America's Most Wanted. I just like reality shows, especially criminal reality.

Do you have a nickname?
Not really, but no one pronounces my name right, so I'm always getting called Revel. My name ROO-vel.

What is your favorite movie?
I don't really watch movies but the last movie I saw was Wedding Crashers and that was pretty good. Anchor Man is a good one, too.

Who is your favorite female celebrity?
Mariah Carrey because I like her songs. She's a good singer.

What's in your CD player?
Eminem or Dave Matthews.

What was your first job?
I washed dishes at a restaurant. I wanted to be a cook but I had to work my way up.

Did you ever become a cook?
Yeah, yeah I did at Cherokee Restaurant. It's a family restaurant in Michigan.

What is your favorite meal?
New York strips, with mashed potatoes and corn. No, two New York strips with mashed potatoes and corn!

If you weren't playing football, what would you be doing?
Looking for a job.

How is playing in NFL-Europe comparable and diff. to playing here?
Well, the fans are not as crazy as they are here because soccer is the number one sport over there in Europe. Other than that, it's pretty much the same. NFL-Europe is probably a step down competitively.

How difficult is it to be away from your baby girl who is still in Michigan?
It's very difficult. She was just born in May. I've got a picture of her in my locker and a picture of her in my hotel room. I call home everyday and ask if she's done anything new. It's tough because I don't want her to change while I'm gone. I don't want to miss anything. I want her to stop growing and wait until I can come back.

Who is the most inspirational person in your life?
I would say my baby because right now that's what really drives me. You know, coming out last year for training camp, it's kind of doing it for yourself. And now you have an extra person who doesn't necessarily look up to you now, but I'm sure she will when she gets older. I would say that's a huge inspiration for me.
