Chargers quarterback Drew Brees came to the sidelines late in the second quarter with a dislocated shoulder that proved to be a metaphor for the Chargers' 2005 season.

Brees' throwing shoulder had popped out when 325-pound Denver Broncos defensive tackle Gerald Warren fell on it in a scramble for a loose football.

The Chargers' team doctors popped Brees shoulder back in, but that wasn't a remedy for him to return to the field. Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said Brees will need further examinations this week to determine if his labrum is torn and requires surgical repair.
