Where the San Diego Chargers ultimately wind up could heavily influence where the Oakland Raiders play in the future.

The Chargers and Rams are still actively discussing a Los Angeles partnership, according to sources, and the two sides are aiming for an answer in the coming weeks.

If the Chargers do move to Los Angeles, the Raiders could move to San Diego for the 2017 or 2018 season, according to a source.

One source this weekend called a Raiders move to San Diego "very viable."

The Raiders are expected to remain in Oakland for the 2016 season, but beyond that is very much in question.

If 'Da Boltz leave, I'd oppose the Raiders coming here and I'd oppose the NFL coming back. Use the $500 million to build a new university or something that creates good for the broader public. The NFL wants us at home watching games anyway.

this should be a warning to Spanos, you won't have much of a fan base in Los Angeles (I'm guessing third behind the Rams and Raiders) and you'll lose a lot of your fan base in San Diego.

Honestly with the way the Spanos family has acted towards its fans and the city, even taking into account that this is a business, I'd be backing the team that wants to be in my hometown. That probably means I'm trading Blue and Gold for Silver and Black. And I know I'm not the only one by a long shot.

Simply put, if the Chargers move to LA and the Raiders come to San Diego, within two years the Chargers will have no fan base in southern california period.

Qualcom is much better than the Oakland Coliseum. And with half of lasts years game Raider fans anyways. I can see them thriving here.

If Dean wants to move up north there isn't much he can do to stop the Raiders from moving to Dego. It will take some time getting use to it but I can see a warming up to them as the San Diego team of the future.

Except the Raiders don't so much want to be in your hometown as they simply want the hell out of Oakland and San Diego, in this scenario, would be what's available.

I guess my only real question to all of this is simply, where will the Chargers play while they are building them a new stadium in San Diego?

If the city breaks down and agrees to a downtown stadium then I'd imagine Qualcomm until it's built.

If they insist on using the same site and the Chargers agree to that because Kronke's screws are on too tight then I have no clue. I don't know if San Diego has any other NFL or close to NFL sized stadiums. Heck, where would the Aztecs play?

Would they turn PetCo into a make-shift football field? (I hope not)

If they build it in Mission Valley I'm thinking it woun't be built in the same "footprint" of the current stadium, so they can still play in the Q while the new stadium is being built in the parking lot

The current plan for the Mission Valley site as I understand it would be to build the new stadiumin the Northwest corner of the property (parking lot) and use Qualcomm until the new stadium is done.
