The Raiders are not idle in the AFC West this weekend. The hated Silver and Black host the Cleveland Browns. If the Raiders win, they can match the Chargers win total on the young season.

Looking at the stats, it could be an interesting game.

    Strengths:
The Raiders are running the ball well, and are currently the 2nd ranked rushing offense in the league. They have made great use of their offensive speed to make short plays into long or scoring plays.

The Browns have played nice defense so far. they are ranked 9th overall in the league and have given up an average of 102.4 less yards per game than the Raiders.

    However:
The Raiders have gained an average of 61.6 yards more per game than Browns have.

While the Browns have played good defense, they have had problems in stopping the run, and rank 25th in the league against the run. The Raiders of course live off the run as their passing attack is 22nd in the league. This I believe will be the key. If the Browns cant hold the Raiders running attack in check, mind you they do not need to stop it, just prevent it from killing them, then I do not see a win in the cards for the Browns.

All in all it is not a very even match up. The Browns stack up as the better defense but lack the run stopping play they need, and have not been very good on the offensive side of the ball. The Raiders are coming off an emotional win, and with the recent death of Al Davis, that emotion is bound to continue as the Raiders honor their fallen leader at the first home game since his passing.

    Total Stats:
    Raiders:
    #9 in overall offense
    #22 in passing offense
    #2 in rushing offense
    #29 in overall defense
    #29 in pass defense
    #22 in rushing defense

    Browns:
    #21 in overall offense
    #17 in passing offense
    #27 in rushing offense
    #9 in overall defense
    #4 in passing defense
    #25 in rushing defense

Looking at the tales of the tape, and weighing in the emotional factor, I cant see the Raiders letting this one slip at home.

What is your take on this game?

I can see them looking past the Browns. But the Browns have to make it a point to shut down DMC. Their run defense is awful, and I can't even believe that they are as high as 25.

It all matters how the Browns O-Line protects. If they don't let too much by and keep the pressure minimal they could win in a close one. I think those would be the 2 points I would say are crucial in the game.

    if its brown flush it!

We have to beat the Raiders, we cannot depend on someone else to do it for us.

I agree with what you are saying, but any distance between us and the Raiders is welcome in my book. Looking at their defense though, I think they are beatable if their running game is held in check.

The Browns will need to keep long drives alive and win TOP in order to keep the Raiders O off the field. Slow, methodic drives will help the Browns.

Neither quarterback shows any kind of consistency.
I see a season high record number of punts.
The game is a close toss up.
Advantage: Turds @ Coliseum. By Turds, I mean the Raiders, not the Browns.

We shouldn't depend on others beating them for us but it's still nice if it happens.

I will never root for the Raiders to win, HOWEVER, I will root for the other team they are playing to lose.

They will not lose @ home this weekend barring major injuries to several key players. There will be super high emotions for their first home game since Al passed. I expect a slaughter.

Raiders win the Texans were their ONLY tough team left in that 4 game stretch. Enough of the Raider watching. They aren't the 2008/2009 Broncos however much I want them to be. Bolts need to take care of their business and the Raiders won't win the AFC west. Then again when have the chargers taken care of business?

I'm sure that Janikowski has a connect that can help them get the truckloads of vicodin needed to bring Favre out of retirement.
