    Raiders WR Breaks Foot
by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, August 18, 2009 at 3:05pm ET

    Chaz Schilens Profile

Oakland Raiders starting WR Chaz Schilens suffered a broken left foot during Tuesday's morning practice. Schilens told the media after Tuesday's practice that X-rays taken on his foot showed that he suffered a brake of the fifth metatarsal. It's not known how long Schilens will be out, but it's pretty safe to say he'll miss at least the first regular season game against at home against the San Diego Chargers.

Typically, a fifth metatarsal injury to a skill position player could take six to eight weeks to heal. Wide receivers must stop, start, run, and cut, so it's an injury which must fully heal before Schilens will be able to do everything fully out on the field of play.

The loss of Schilens is big since he's been the most consistent receiver in training training camp and is widely recognized as the best player at his position on the Raider roster.

Elsewhere, veteran WR Javon Walker (knee) remains on the team's PUP list. Rookie WR Louis Murphy (hip) didn't practice.

Most consistent receiver in camp? I've never heard of him.

    He represents from SDSU!!!

But strangely he wasn't a big name even for Aztec fans. He was our best WR, but on such a ****** team, he went unknown. Even with Kevin O'Connell (NE's 2nd or 3rd string QB) as the QB for State too. He has potential, kinda like Floyd for us. He's even 6'4''.

He started at WR midway last year for OAK, so it is a big blow to them. Too bad for him, funny for the Raiders ha.

Coaches punching one another, untimely injuries, Al Davis starting to drool even before season starts. The Raiduh soap opera continues.

I feel really bad for the kid. He was having a great camp and could have broken out this year. It always sucks when players get hurt. Success or failure should be determined based on what they do on the field, not bad luck they suffer off it.

    Get well soon, Chaz.

I want to kick their rear ends with the best players they have! That way they know exactly how low they are, and they do not have a fall back.

“Ya you kicked our arse 52-0, but we did not have Chaz Schilens"

Who? Best at wr for the raiders? Didn't they draft some Heyward guy at wr in the 1st round? The "Radars" are just too much...

Come on now, when was the last time the Raiders drafted anyone in the 1st round that was worth anything?

Well you never know now, with Al Davis trading Moss for a 4th I might try trading a bag of sunflower seeds for one of his first rounders, if for nothing else than having a burly new water boy.

I keep coming back to this because I love how the Raiders projected a dude with 15 nfl catches to be one of their top two wr this season.

Their current 1stRD pick: Darrius Heyward-Bey needs to look into the Raider history and get some of that Stickum, or atleast the ingredients. Maybe he can get together with Barry Bond's alchemist and create a new undetectable Stickum: Stickum 2.0

The kid has some butter-fingers. But even Stickum couldn't help him.

    What's worst...

    A) lightning fast receiver with no-hands
    B) diva-like receiver holding out and demanding top-3 money
    C) talented yet unhealthy receiver with a mangina
    D) talented yet lackadaisical overweight receiver
    E) ALL OF THE ABOVE

    Thats not it.

He has been around long enough so that he knows how to translate the plays that were drawn up in Crayon

I hate the faiders almost as much as you bro, but they did draft Nnamdi Asomughua (sp?). so I guess that makes them 1 for 6?

    and he was drafted in 2003, what happened to 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009

Plus add the fact that how many of the picks were top 10 picks if not he #1 pick

    Ditto.

Ruck the Faiders, and that includes everyone who has ever been a Raider, all current Raiders, and all future Raiders.

I won't say I'm happy about Schilens' injury, or that I wish it on anyone, but suffice it so say that I really don't care a whole hell of a lot.

That organization can never win another game, and I wouldn't shed a tear.
