Ravens' McNair makes case for MVP

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- His numbers aren't as gaudy as those of LaDainian Tomlinson or Drew Brees, yet Steve McNair probably deserves consideration when it comes time to select the 2006 NFL MVP.

The Baltimore Ravens went 6-10 last year. This season they're 10-3. The turnaround can be attributed largely to McNair, who has taken control of an offense that never realized its potential with Kyle Boller or Anthony Wright at quarterback.

Uhhhhh,... you think there might be a little east coast bias on this one. Seriously, McNair to even be mentioned is a slap in our boy's face. SI has serious credibility issues.

I would follow the logic of Ray Lewis or Bart Scott as the Ravens' candidate for MVP over McNair.

You're right. SI is reraching big time on this one. I have a theory. When you're the best others start to hate you. Look are all the bigtime NFL dynasties. They all had a group that would love to knowck them down. This rash of anto Charger article just proves we've made it and the inmates running scared. Thiere will be many more article about how we're really not that good and how LT isn't that good and got Rivers isn't really that good, or Gate, or Parker, etc. etc.... All the while we'll just keep winning games.

Hey why we are at it lets consider the following:
    Eli
    Culpepper
    The Skins waterboy
That old guy in section A10 of the baltimore stadium
    leisure

They are all worthy of MVP consideration....

    NOT!

Sportswriters have this big fear of agreeing with eachother. Some will go to great lengths to try to construct a contrarian argument even if it flies in under the flag of stupidity.

    Just my opinion.

Since there is an East Coast Bias going on. I think that Vince Young should be considered MVP over McNair this year To include a Katrina card playing Drew Brees. I would go as far as saying give the MVP to Joey Harrington for pete sakes. Joey is East Coast.

This is the time of the year when the contrarian writers come out of the woodworks and try to prove they're not among the lemmings who will vote for the obviously deserving choice for MVP.

I think I'll write an article about how the Buffalo Bills are actually more deserving of a postseason bid than the Chargers because the Chargers are more talented and therefore aren't as "gutsy."

Rivers is a more deserving MVP Candidate than McNair. McNair's been pretty mediocre.

    He's 16th in Passing Yards.
    19th in Passing TDs
    13th in Passer Rating
and has thrown the 14th fewest INTs

Meanwhile, Rivers is 9th in Yards
    8th in Passing TDs
    5th in Passer Rating
and has thrown the fewest INTs of any QB that's started every game for his team this season.

McNair for MVP is a joke.
