It's been an interesting comparison the last two times.

2007 Ray Lewis had 5 tackles (3 solo, 2 assisted), and 1 pass defense.

    2006 he had 14 tackles (10 solo, 4 assisted).

In 2007, Merriman had 7 tackles (5 solo, 2 assisted) and 1 sack.

In 2006, Merriman had 2 solo tackles and 1 sack.

So, Ray Lewis has at least twice the tackles and a pass defense, while Merriman has two sacks.

And Shawne Merriman is an altar boy? Being a thug is a part of an NFL linebacker's job description.

    Yes. He's a Chargers, therefore he's a complete angel.

That is until he signs elsewhere next year, then he's an ******* and a thug.

Especially if he signs with New England. :icon_tease:

Well...it's no secret the Patriot linebackers are in need..especially if the defensive play caller and last year's defensive rookie of the year, Jerod Mayo, is on the bench injured. The Patriots have a soft spot for Charger has beens...:icon_tease:

Agreed, this is so true. Actually ever since that debacle with Ray in 2000 he has been a "good boy". He is one helluva motivator too. I like Merriman because of where he played college, but lately he has been questionable at best with his behavior. Who knows what or who to believe in the latest episode. Healthy he is definitely in the top 5. Ray has lost a step or two and I honestly wonder if he has more than a couple years left. You can only take so much pounding on your body I don't care what shape you're in. You can only fool Father Time for so long!

Ray Lewis because a tackle is easier than a sack.

And I have no doubt he would suit up and play if called...one of the all time great hearts in football.

If SM played for the Patriots, I wonder if he would do that Lights Out dance on our logo? :icon_shrug:
