Please let the Jets be dumb enough to take him off our hands! Injuries or not, Reich FAILED as a rookie OC and cost us games down the stretch with his lack of game planning and conservative play calling.

Any statements being made by the media midgets to verify any of this information?

I guess for some on here, a first year OC needs to coach into the Super Bowl or he's punt-worthy.
A winning record just doesn't cut it. I mean, he's had so much experience to pull from, we should have a
    first round bye right now!

Speaking only for myself, I had no fantasy that the Chargers would even make the playoffs,
so it definitely is not about the 9-7 record.
It's about passing schemes that don't get talented receivers open,
it's about uninspired play-calling, and the multiple 4th quarter runs last Sunday
--when the clock was working against the trailing Chargers--was the final straw, for me.

I'm all for cutting a guy slack in his first year...
but December Reich seemed worse to me than September Reich. :(

We should fire Reich and hire someone from Bolttalk. We seem to have all of the greatest football playcallers ever wasting their talent posting on message boards instead of bringing it to the Chargers' staff.

I know, and it is so easy, they can tell you a play wouldnt have worked 2 to 3 seconds after it has been ran!

Are we not giving credit to December Reich for the victory in San Fran?
Or is that just an aberration? From what I recall of that game, Reich's play-calling plus
players executing those plays equaled a win for our side.
The runs at the end (last game) could easily be chalked up to over-thinking or under-thinking
but they would have been genius had either of them worked.

Of course, this is all in the past. Let's see if Reich even stays first before we continue the gnashing
(I know...that's not how this site functions, but a fella can dream).
December Reich didn't have the same players that September Reich had.
When Woodhead went out for the year I foresaw gloom. That dude is a stud that makes defenses
    start questioning themselves.

In Boltsville, if the players execute, the scheme and play calling was excellent. If they dont, clearly the scheme and play calling was shyte...

It's easy to make an argument to fire him when you can just dismiss any good call as one Rivers made.

Anyway, Doug Marrone just opted out and the Bills have an opening. Regardless of opinions, I think the odds of Reich leaving by promotion just skyrocketed up.

The 4th down play that ran Oliver up the middle and got stuffed........it was VERY CLEAR that Philips' reaction to it was like...."I KNEW THAT SH*T WASN'T GONNA WORK"!!!!!
Yeah., I was WTF on the play calling on this last game.......dunno if Reich is the right fit for that position.

@UTgehlken: Frank Reich's long history with Bill Polian could play into Bills HC search: http://t.co/atbFPkulFE

The way the O-line was playing, I don't really think it would matter what was called.

You know, I spend so much time arguing with the "we shouldn't draft/acquire anyone if they don't play on the lines" crowd that it gives the false impression that I disregard that part of the game.

But truth be told that is the most important yet unheralded part of the team and Hexed is absolutely correct. Pretty much anytime the offense has sputtered it's been a result of bad blocking more than anything else.

Great offensive line play is an art and when properly executed is a thing of beauty.

Reich looked good early on. I think his OC future will depend on how well he does in his 2nd season. I do think oline is priorty but knowing the chargers history, it will most likely ignored or only made better lightly. This in contrast to steelers and patriots of the world who understand it all starts with the oline. Since im sure we wont correct the lines, can we add a few playmakers? At least make it interesting from fantasy football standpoint.

This is typical fan-think. "The player (or coach) I don't like is to blame for the team's failures, and when the team succeeds, it's in spite of the player (or coach) I don't like." Nothing but a bunch of circular reasoning that proves nothing.

    More likely, the Bills.......

If Doug Marrone opts out of Bills contract, look for Chargers OC/former Bills QB Frank Reich to emerge as candidate.

I understand your side of this argument as if I don't have a brain for myself " typical fan-think" as you put it
but if you watch inside the NFL and the game hi lights frank tells rivers to "run what you want" on that last drive
You can hear it because rivers was wired when he ran to the sidelines
so say what you want but in this case you are wrong
And there was another instance on chargers.com when frant talks about a play that changed the game royals 4th down catch frank said that rivers was adamant about running a play that rivers wanted and it worked so frank needs to work on his game is all I'm saying
