I think its a universal understanding that Samuel is the most overrated DB in the NFL.

Even Patriot fans dont like him, and thats saying something for fans who are willing to defend Bellichick.

He just made himself an extra $5 million by simply asking for such an outrageous amount.

Has any cornerback ever made that much?

If I remember right, the Cowboys gave Dion Sanders a six year contract for 35 million. Though I couldn't stand him, he was worth it at that time and Samuels is NOT Sanders!!!

    LOL. That's what I thought!!!
I knew that was Payton money and I don't recall any defensive player making that kind of money.

100 mil for the most overrated player in the NFL??

I guess he is just trying to get as much as he can now so that when teams realize he is simply a product of belicheat and in reality sucks, he will still have his $30 mil of guaranteed money

isn't this the dikk that paraded around, beating his chest, after deflecting a pass in the end zone... only to let the Super Bowl get away by failing to pick an easy interception which went right through his hands...

    100 cents...

He's not worth that kind of money.

BUT .... if he gets it, what do you think Merriman will look for come negotiating time? :icon_shrug:

I agree 1,000% Samuels is not in my opinion worth a 10 year $100 MIL contract.

Now that is the question that is scaring me when it comes time for Merriman. I think that Shawne will want to have the highest Salary that a Linebacker has ever received. He would be too expensive to keep in that instance.

How about Cro as well when it comes to his time for his renewal of his contract? :icon_shrug: :icon_huh: OUCH!

Guess this is the price to be paid when you have a team full of exceptional athletes. We need to win the Lombardi NOW - while our window of opportunity is wide open.

No one's worth that kind of money in the NFL, and he's been in the NFL like 5 years already. You going to want to pay him 10 million dollars still 10 years down the line?

    What a dumbass douchebag

Man, turtle man has a point. Those two guys will command like 2 Billion dollars right there. I hope A.J. has a plan with those guys. BTW, when is Merriman's contract up anyway? Seriously, SM is gonna command some serious cash....$$$$$

You would think most players would take a little less money to stay on a red hot team. Eventually a SB ring is more important than the money.

I believe that was "sorriest CB in the league" Hobbs. Still - Samuels isn't worth that kind of jack.

Merriman's gonna get tagged at least one year. They'll work out deals for Rivers, Jackson, Mcneill, and Chambers over the next couple seasons, and tag Merriman. They will use the extra season to re-evaluate, restructure some contracts here, release some guys there, and then sign Merriman to another long-term deal.

No, he was the guy who blew a fairly easy interception that would have sealed the game for the Patriots.

Is any cornerback worth that kind of money? If Dion were active and in his primes today, would he be worth that money?
