The confidential list of players who tested positive at the February Scouting Combine finally has been distributed to the teams.

And, as usual, it's confidentiality has been compromised.

Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com report that Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer and USC tight end Anthony McCoy are the biggest names on the list.

Per the report, Dwyer tested positive for amphetamines, but a source told Glazer and/or Marvez that the result was triggered by a prescription medication that Dwyer has clearance to take for a pre-existing condition. (Maybe he caught "lethargy addiction" from JaMarcus Russell.)

McCoy tested positive for marijuana. His agents reportedly revealed the result to NFL teams weeks ago in an apparent effort to whip up a little chicken salad.

Though it was wise to get the word out, given that the teams get the official list too late in the process to do anything other than take the kid's name off the board, the fact remains that the only guys who test positive for pot at the Combine are either really dumb, or they have a problem.

McCoy is projected as a second-day pick. Dwyer could go as high as round three, or early on day three.

Amphetamines, huh? Diet suppressants quite likely.

Quite possibly. I've just read a fair amount about his struggles with weight so am wondering aloud.

Either explanation is fairly plausible or it could be something entirely different. I don't really care .... I don't want him in bolts because I don't think he's very good.

It's a stimulant, one like Ritalin, which would probably match up in the test to bennies.

Expect Chargers to still consider Dwyer

    By Bill Williamson
    ESPN

The positive drug test by Georgia Tech running back Jonathan Dwyer will surely catch the attention of the San Diego Chargers.

Dwyer is one of several running backs the Chargers are seriously considering drafting this week. He has talked to the Chargers and he seems to fit their system well.

I wouldn’t expect the positive test to alter San Diego’s (or any other team’s interest in Dwyer). He tested positive for amphetamines. Dwyer's agent said teams were aware of his client's medical history. Dwyer told ESPN the medication is for an attention deficit disorder. The NFL calls Dwyer's situation a "therapeutic use exemption.”

If teams feel comfortable about Dwyer, this positive test will likely be understood. I expect him to stay on San Diego’s draft board

It should. It isn't a performance enhancer. And just like if they want to smoke or drink, they shouldn't be stopped from doing this in their off time either

I totally called... because I have adhd too:icon_rofl:

So it could have been for adhd med or he could actually be a tweaker too since even meth would show up as amphetamines on most standard drug tests:icon_rofl:

I hope we get him in the 3rd round. I don't want to spend a second on this guy, and if we pick him in the first... shoot me.

A banned substance is still banned in the NFL even if one (or more) states have legalized it. Keep in mind: the NFL sets it's OWN rules. Unless you have many high profile (no pun intended) players leaving the NFL in protest, don't expect that policy to change.

The President of the United States is not drug tested and he has a finger on the nukes yet the NFL drug tests its players.

    That is freedom baby.

Drug testing and the general war on drugs is the second biggest social failure right after slavery.

Educate the players and stop all testing.

    Bada bing. :bolt:
