Seymour has to be really depressed right now. He went from a highly rated team to the worst organization in the NFL.

Al Davis must have stayed up late past his bedtime last night.

Perfect fit for Seymour. He's the 2nd dirtiest player in the league behind only Albert Haynesworth.

The Pats being the Pats knew this was a good deal, and Al Davis was suckered right into taking a washed up hack who has to resort to punching and leg sweeping to get past anyone.

Side note: Pats did this so they could afford to re-sign Vince Wilfork.

Unbelieveable! If it hadn't been the Pats, I would be falling over laughing. Now the Cheats will very possibly have a top 5 pic. The Raiders are a train wreck and won't get better anytime soon.

They gave up a 1st round pic for a soon to be 30yo DT with high miles. Al Davis has officialy lost it.

    GO CHARGERS!:bolt:

Bitter sweet. Raiders get fleeced... Pats get a first round pick. Not sure how to feel.

Are the Raider a farm team for the Patriots? Between shipping players to the Pats for nothing and overpaying for players, Al Davis must have a crush on Robert Kraft or something.

 bring it on Seymour you ***** - I'm so freaking happy we get to play him twice a year now (but not in the play offs hahahahahahahahaha). Get ready to rumble Hardwick! Monday night just got even more exciting

bonus: raiders gave up a 1st round pick! even if it is to the pats, i don't care, this is comedy gold~

It makes the Pats already soft defense even more vulnerable.

It makes them easier to get by THIS YEAR. Plus they don't get the pick until 2011.

Yeah, thanks to the raiders they should be able to draft Brady's eventual replacement with the probable high pick that they get from the Raiders.

For the immediate future, this is a small bit of help in getting the Chargers to the Super Bowl.

More fuel for McNeil to have a comeback year.

On a side note: The raiders have to be the dumbest organization in football.

    Raiders trying to get better

    September 6, 2009 2:25 PM

    Posted by ESPN.com’s Bill Williamson

Give the Oakland Raiders credit. They want to break their six-season dismal streak.

    Doug Steinbock/US Presswire
Defensive lineman Richard Seymour will instantly make the Raiders defense better.

They just a made a bold move worthy of a playoff contender by adding potential Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour from New England. The only question is, was it worth the risk for Oakland?

Though Seymour is a fine player, he isn't the final piece of the puzzle for the Raiders. He is entering his final year of his contract and the Raiders paid a steep price to get him, a first-round pick in 2011. If Seymour, 29, walks away from Oakland after this season as a free agent, it would be a devastating blow to the future of the franchise. Over the past six years the Raiders have been routinely drafting in the top 10. If Seymour leaves, the Raiders will be taking a major step back.

But sometimes it takes a major risk to get out of a rut.

There’s no doubt Seymour makes Oakland’s defense much better. The Raiders were 31st against the run last season and they were savaged by the run in the preseason. With fellow veteran Greg Ellis brought in from Dallas, Oakland has a very professional line in the making. Add superstar left cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and the Raiders have some very nice pieces on defense.

Seymour is an excellent player who will help Oakland. Yes, there are questions of how much he’ll help and if he’ll leave, but Al Davis has proven he’ll shell out large money for good players.

But Oakland is trying to get better and that can’t be denied.

They do get a better piece and have three supposedly good pieces of a DL in Kelly, Seymour at DT and Ellis at DE. Seymour is a FA at the end of the year. That's nothing to entirely sneeze at.

...This is starting to remind me of how the New York Yankees used to fleece the poor hapless and stupid Kansa City Royals out of players and prospects in baseball during the late 50's and early 60's. The Pats just stole Burgess from the Turds recently and now they'll use this top 5 pick to parlay it into multiple picks like they usually do.

It's just smart business on the Patriot's part to get younger while they're still an elite team. To continually make trades like this in your own conferance though, is typical Al Davis stupidity  If I were a Raider fan I'd be contemplating putting out a hit on this idiot of an owner.

And who was that wide receiver the Chargers picked up from the Dolphins a year or so ago? Same conference, n'est pas?

Any bets on whether ot not the Pats will pick up Feeley from the Eagles?

    Hmmm...I like this deal.

The Pats are sure helping to shore up the AFC West talent pool..Vrabel, Cassel, Seymour, and a couple suits. The Patriots do what they can to help out.

Maybe the Raiders had 2 first round picks in 2011, anybody know.:icon_shrug:

If not, I'd rather have a first round pick in 2011, than a 32 year old Seymour.

I'm glad Al Davis, and Josh McDaniels is in the AFC West.:icon_rofl:

And the Patriots like the draft pick and have rid themselves of his contract which would have come up next year, I believe.

Seymour butts is an first class A-hole and dirtiest player on the planet. Classless too headbutting one of our assistant coaches 2 years ago in a playoff game at New England. Dude is perfect fit for the Faiders. Dirty player going to a classless and clueless team.

    Example #10 that he's a turd

    http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/3517/report-seymour-angry-about-trade

The Oakland Tribune said there are rumors Seymour won’t report to the Raiders. Here’s a report that said Seymour is “angry” over his swap from New England to Oakland on Sunday. The Raiders surrendered a first-round pick in 2011 in the shocking deal.

Seymour really doesn’t have much leverage. If he truly is angry, he will probably get over it in a couple of days. If not, what is he going to do? The trade could be rescinded, but the Patriots want that first-rounder, not Seymour anymore. He can retire, but that’s unlikely at the age of 29. He could sit out the season, but he won’t be a free agent at the end of this year.

The likely scenario here is that Seymour will end up reporting to the Raiders. You can’t blame him if he’s upset.

He was a major face with one of the best franchises in sports. His family was established in Foxboro. He had no idea he was going to be dealt and he ended up being traded to a team that set an NFL record for the most losses in a six-season span. It has to be a shock for Seymour.

    What a brat
