Wow, this is huge. I hope he is right that he will be 100% by the start of the next season, but that sounds very optimistic to me...

I hope he is right.

Wow, please be okay Philip. If it was this serious, maybe he shouldn't have played on Sunday? Awesome heart though. Surgery on Monday, no ACL, and he still made himself stay out there. This guy is the real deal, and he is the kind of quarterback that wins you championships.

Now Rivers will have to deal with the voices. :icon_eek:

He will get some poor dead SOB's ligament as a replacement. :icon_eek:

It appears obvious to me that LT knew the extent of this in the Colts game when Rivers came back out.

Remember the sideline shot that had Rivers talking to LT? Philip said something, and LT suddenly had this "aw fucq!!!!" pained look on his face.

I'm ignorant about these sorts of injuries. Is this really career threatening? When they say "it's gone", does that literally mean it needs to be replaced?

He is going to have reconstructive surgery. To me that sounds pretty bad. However I don't know if it is career threatening. Elway had the same injury and he lasted quite awhile so I'm hoping for the best.

It means that the ligament is completely torn away from the bone.

The human knee has 4 of these ligaments. They attach the knee to the two leg bones, the femur (the thigh bone), and the tibia (the lower leg bone).

Think of ligaments as like big stabilizing rubber bands. While stabilizing, they also flex to allow the knee to bend. When one is partially torn, it affects stability some. A sprained ligament is still a tear, but the slightest type, more like it gets stretched further than intended.

Rivers' ACL is completely torn, so the surgery could try to reattach it, or attach something else that can possibly function as a replacement.

Rivers takes over the number one toughness spot for Charger QB. Stan Humphries is now number two.

    Get well soon PR.

My mind is racing with all the possibilities in posts if Rivers and the Chargers start stealing and harvesting from the dead. :abq2:

They'll steal a ligament from a dead biker.

That way, Rivers will finally have real bad boy in him. :icon_rofl:

You are on to something I was contemplating earlier. I would imagine Rivers would not want a chicks ligament nor the ligament of someone just executed (I would include gays as well).

I think Rivers should come up with a check list of dead peoples ligament requirements.

If that's the performance we get with one acl, that dude is as solid as anything on this earth. I am even more proud to be a Chargers fan after reading that article.

Damn, this sucks on many levels.

One, no OTA's to help his development.

Two, this training camp becomes an extended rehab.

Three, it's going to take a long time for him to regain that feeling of "comfort" in the pocket, which he has had issues already.

Four, this is going to take up alot of his time that he should be working on other things. I now worry about him taking a step back in his development.

Five, all the ******** Bronco and Colts Fans that are going to be smug about it and tell us that he deserved it for how often he runs his mouth.

There are more, but right now those are my biggest concerns. You gotta love his attitude.

Well he's what 7-0 against those two teams so I'm sure they will continue to hate him.

If anybody can bounce back it's Philip although I'm worried as well.

Rivers said it best. His 40 time went from 5.0 to 5.4

    Big effing deal - right?

If they had to gut Rivers's *** like a fish and fillet his **** open 30 years ago, then maybe I would be worried but the dude does not throw with his feet plus the doctors have this type of crap down.

Drew Brees's doctor stroked out shortly after his surgery so I would stay away from his shaky ***.

BTW: You know why women like old gynecologists right?
    Shaky hands :)

If you think about it, had Brady or Manning(Peyton) had the same injury, would they have done as well with what we had?...I say probably not.
