Lots in the meltdown over our first two losses is that Philip Rivers has been the best QB in the league through the league's first three weeks:

    #1 in QB rating-124.8
    #1 in TD Passes-9
    #1 in Completions of 40+ yards-5
    #1 in Completions of 20+ yards-13
    #1 in yards per completion-9.9

    Where are all the doubters?

And the first question I heard Tuesday morning......."Is Jay Cutler the best QB in the NFL?"

    No mention of Rivers!!!

They touched on Romo, they backed up Peyton Manning, and completely neglected to mention Rivers name.

Cutler is yet to have a winning season in either the college or the pros, and Philip Rivers is yet to have a losing one in either…..

When Cutler finally makes the Pro Bowl or wins a postseason game, then I’ll consider putting him in the same category as Philip but it’s a bit premature to proclaim him as an elite NFL QB just yet until he actually does something, other then having the referees hand him a game after two late 4th Quarter red zone turnovers, followed by eeking out a win on a missed field goal attempt the following week!

    QUOTE: Phillip Rivers thread 9-22-08

Phillip Rivers....."I didn't know about him his previous years here, but I believe he is the team leader that is going to be the moving force that will take us to the Superbowl. I just saw him on ESPN and the confidence he displayed makes me a believer".

    Phillip is the Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!:tup::tup::tup:

The vultures are out there waiting and circling high and ready to strike as soon as Philip has a bad game. Mark my words, when he has that bad day at the office they'll want his head.

I don't think it's fair to use "their" win/loss records as a bottom line.

All that tells us is that Rivers has been on better teams than Cutler.

That being said, Rivers is better than Cutler in my opinion, and I agree that it's a bit premature to be questioning if Cutler the best in the league....but I also think Cutler is a very good QB.

Same ****, different day. The media continues to lick Donkey balls & disses the Chargers. We're the cream of the AFCW & are on the way to rising to the top. Cutler showed what a klutz he is in our first meeting - the only thing that kept him from being a huge goat was Hochuli.

By the end of the year it will be quite evident to anyone with half a brain that Jay Cutler isn't worthy of hand-washing PR's jock.

Ok, then instead of comparing numbers, we'll compare intangibles. Under pressure, Rivers seems to elevate to a high level and bring his team with him, most of the time creating a win out of a sure loss.

From what I've seen, when pressure falls on Cutler, he crumbles and relies on outside help to make himself look good.

    Like Hochuli? :icon_evil:

There's a noticeable difference in the way that the two QBs carry themselves. Rivers is fiery & confident. Cutler looks goofy as hell & seems to struggle with mistakes.

I believe Cutler averages a fumble a game in his career. I know Philip does not.

It's very fair to compare win/loss records, because a quarterback affects whether or not a team wins or loses more so than any other player on a team.

A competent QB can make a team alot better, just as a bad one will sink their chances when everyone else is pulling their weight - the Minnesota Vikings are a good example of this, after losing to Indy because of poor play from their inconsistent QB....they replaced him with a solid veteran in Gus Frerotte and haven't lost again since!

Jay Cutler is what would happen if you took Jake Plummer and stuck John Elway's arm on him.

Yeah, he can throw lasers, but gee, it's still Jake Plummer.

These are pretty phenomenal figures. Now if the the defense and ST's get their shite in one sock, we can exploit that stuff further.

While this is all true it still takes a team to win football games.

If you want to win wins and losses as a bottom line argument you're forced to argue that Cutler has been better than Rivers this year.

Cutler is 3-0, Rivers is 1-2.

Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have Super Bowl rings while Dan Marino and Dan Fouts have empty fingers.

Yes the QB is the most important player on the field, but he can't win games on his own, so you can't use "his" win/loss record to argue that he's better than another QB who's team's W/L record isn't quite as good.

Who cares whether River's is better than Cutless? All I know is I like the QB we have and wouldn't want any of the others out there right now.

Yeah I know Rivers hasn't won the big one yet but he's learning how to do that now. It will happen and it may just be this year. Stayed tuned and watch.
