KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For a few moments yesterday, Philip Rivers looked as if he might suffer the same fate as two inexperienced Chargers quarterbacks of the past.

Remember Moses Moreno? He made his second career start in 2000 at Arrowhead Stadium and passed for just 107 yards before leaving in the third quarter with a substantial shoulder injury. His career lasted all of two more games.

Surely no one has forgotten Ryan Leaf, who made his third career start here in 1998 and had more turnovers (five) than passing yards (four) in a rainy-day performance for the ages. His career went downhill from there.
