I like how, in all of his stat lines, you highlighted Brady's name in pink...nice touch:tup:

The premis of the comparisons (as I understand it) is to show how the QBs did against the same oponents. So the SD-Cincy game would not be a same opponent game for Palmer and Rivers as Palmer never played against the Bengals, and Rivers never played against the Chargers.

    If that make sense.

I don't give a rats *** how Philip compares to the rest of the league, I just want Super Bowl wins. Bradshaw didn't have the best stats but he's got 4 rings, and I'm sure Fouts would trade all those yards and praise with bradshaw for the SB wins.:bolt:

OK question to the audiance at large.

Seeing these stats and comparisons, what do you make of them? What conclusions do you draw?

As we all do. But it is nice (IMO) to see the numbers when compared with some of the 'best' QB in the league, especially given he did so well in comparison.

I have been preaching that since the day we traded for him, thats how I became a River Rat as I recall. Fact is, I just want SB wins.:bolt:

What I make of them is that Rivers stacks up well against some of the best veteran QB's even in his first year as a starter. If I was a lonelier person I might get some serious wood thinking about Phillip in the coming seasons (no pun intended-well, maybe subconsciously).

We already know how that game turned out.....said Rivers at the half "there gonna need more than 28 points to beat us"...

Of course those are factors. Stats dont give you context. But it seemed like the best comparison I have seen.

I do like Philips stats in his first year of starting, now you know why I wanted him to start much sooner. The dude is just a natural in this game we call football.:bolt:

Yup, he opened my eyes, as you know I did not have the faith in him that you and other "Rivers Rats" had, but that is because I had nothing but a few highlight reels to guage him by.

We were very lucky to have to high quality QBs when we had Brees and Rivers.

You compare what you can. There will never be an environment where everything is equal. Not everyone will have a laser rocket arm, or a RB like LT, or the wind at their back ect. With what we have to go off of, this is the best comparison I saw out there.

That said I realized the same things you did and saw the same shortcomings with the stats. Again stats give numbers, not context.

yes I was fortunate enough to have watched him play throughout his college career. Don't feel bad, when I told my brothers back in Dago about him, they also said who? he is just simply amazing at how he can lift a team to victory. I have no explanation for it, but you have now witnessed it.:icon_toast:

What do I make of it? I knew Rivers was better than Brees when I watched them at camp. Brees went to the PB that year.

Phillip has more "it" than Brady or Brees. Manning is on par with his intelligence and Palmer is just as talented. The one thing that stands out is Phillip has the intelligence, the talet, and the fire. The others mentioned here only have two of the three possible talents.

I conclude I am glad I kept my mouth shut when we let Brees walk. (I was not very happy 'bout that one)

In closing, Phillip will go down as one of the greatest QB's ever to play the game. Watch out Danny, Phillip will eclipse your career passing stats by year 10. (5,050 yards per year average)
