From the context of the original statement I don't think MVP is a stretch.

With the exception of a couple of the losses the Chargers aren't losing because of Rivers.

If the defense and coaching was any good this year and the Chargers record was what we'd all expected it to be right about now Rivers would most definitely be in MVP discussions.

I'm not saying he should be with the way things actually stand, but with his numbers as they actually are he'd be in them if the team had a better record.

In short, as stated in the original post, he's being robbed of an MVP by his team's record.

Um it's kind of a good thing he's getting overlooked since we have to still re-sign him. I'm sure it's cheaper to sign him if he isn't a pro-bowler/MVP. Although I'm sure it'd be nice for him but it might be better for us if he doesn't get them. :icon_shrug:

Who has better stats and has played better??

The teams record is his downfall for the award. If we were in first place all through the year, the media would be slobbering all over him as thier possible pick for the award.

He won't win MVP unless we go to the SB. The Pro Bowl is overrated - not PR.

Rivers has played well enough for us to be running away with the AFCW, even with a few costly turnovers. A LOT of the supporting cast has let him down - players & coaches alike.

Just to reitterate, Nobody in this thread is suggesting Rivers will get the MVP.

The argument is that he'd be up for it if the team had a better record with his personal performance unchanged.
