Hey, even Acee says he's got cement feet...... kinda goes against you're "can't anchor" assessment, doesn't it?

I'm curious if this is how the depth looks right now

    DX
    Floyd
    Brown
    Allen

In which case I hope it is, a little part of me is hoping Meachem either doesn't succeed or isn't given a fair shot to do so that way we can wash or hands of him (From a money stand point)

Chargers WR Vincent Brown said his ankle is "100 percent."
Brown fractured his ankle last August. The Chargers are taking it easy on him during OTAs, but Brown expects to be full-go for training camp. Malcom Floyd and Danario Alexander are running with the first team, but both Brown and rookie Keenan Allen could jump ahead of Floyd in due time. San Diego was planning to "feature" Brown last season, although there's now a new regime in town.

According to Gehlken its DX and Floyd on the outside and Royal in the slot all seeing first team reps. Meachem is getting 2nd team reps along with Depalma occasionally(which is surprising). But they've been taking it slow with Brown so far, and his expecting to ramp it up a lot as they get closer to camp. Plus Allen was out last week due to finals. So its hard to judge at this point, but I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Royal doesn't remain where he is. Considering his history of success with McCoy, and the word that the passing attack is supposed to be more quick dump passes focused on a high completion percentage.

So its something like this, and could remain this way.

    DX
    Floyd
    Royal

with the 4th spot the a question at this point.
    Meachem/Brown/Allen/Depalma.

It definitely going to be the most exciting competition of camp, but I don't know if I see Allen getting a lot of opportunities his rookie year unless someone goes down with an injury(Floyd?) or he really impresses in camp/preseason.

edit: Also according to Acee we can't cut Meachem cause is whole salary is guaranteed. So we wouldn't save anything. Thanks AJ.

We can sure cut him no problem but we'd still be on the hook for the $.

We'd be on the hook for even more $$ than the cap hit is this year.

if he is cut next year, the cap hit will still be $3,750,000. But this year, (assuming this link is correct), his cap hit is $6,875,000 if he is on the roster. If he is cut, it would be $10,625,000.

If we had the cap room available to eat his salary, I would be all for cutting him and gaining the cap room next year. But we simply don't have the cap room to cut him

On the bright side if the Jeromy Clary project at RG fails (which I think it will) he can go back to being Corky from "Life goes on"
