Here are a couple twitter updates on whats doing on. Hopefully pics will follow later on.

    Michael Gehlken
    @UTgehlken

Melvin Ingram lining up at strong-side OLB in rookie minicamp. After nine years of Stephen Cooper, strange seeing a No. 54 run this fast.

    Michael Gehlken@UTgehlken
Safety Brandon Taylor, as expected, on the field for #Chargers rookie minicamp. Third-round pick the team's only unsigned drafted rookie

    Michael Gehlken@UTgehlken
Two local undrafted players trying out to make team: SDSU safety Brandon Davis and USD tight end Patrick Doyle. #Chargers

    Michael Gehlken@UTgehlken
Fifth-round pick Johnnie Troutman weeks removed from pectoral surgery. Guard's right arm in sling. Getting mental reps in rookie minicamp.

    Michael Gehlken@UTgehlken
Just like that, Cory Brandon's time at #Chargers rookie minicamp may be done. Trainers looking at former Oklahoma tackle's left knee.

Cory Brandon able to walk off field and into trainer's room. One of 17 free agents trying out. #Chargers

    Christopher Smith@SDchargersdude
Granted, it's against undrafted rookies in a less than full contact drill, but Melvin Ingram is in the backfield consistently.

First-round pick Melvin Ingram worked at strong-side outside linebacker during the Chargers' rookie minicamp.

Travis LaBoy was San Diego's "SAM" backer a year ago, and Ingram projects as a huge upgrade after the incumbent tallied just one sack. Jarret Johnson will likely be the strong-side starter, with Ingram replacing him on obvious passing downs. Antwan Barnes is another high-motor option for the nickel defense.

Norv Turner said Melvn Ingram's combination of quickness, physicality lives up to billing. "We saw that in everything that he does."

Chargers signed QB Taylor Potts, formerly of the Rams.

Potts, a onetime star at Texas Tech, was waived halfway through Rams training camp last year. He showed enough during a tryout at Chargers rookie camp to get another look. Potts will battle former LSU QB Jarrett Lee for San Diego's third-string job, though the Chargers may only keep two quarterbacks.

@UTgehlken: To correct earlier tweet, Chargers signed former Nebraska-Kearney CB Arthur Hobbs & Minnesota DT Garret Brown. Taylor Potts was not signed.

Chargers agreed to terms with third-round SS Brandon Taylor on a four-year contract.

The Chargers wanted to trade up for Mark Barron on the draft's first day, but settled for a small move up the board to secure Taylor on day two. A thumping, "box" safety who draws high marks for football IQ and sure tackling, Taylor figures to open the season as San Diego's starter adjacent FS Eric Weddle.

The chargers never wanted to trade up for Barron.....

If you watch Taylor, he isn't really a thumper either. He's a great deep half S with very good ball skills, who's a very fundamental tackler, but will almost never get the big hit, and really doesn't look for it. But he's always gonna be in the right place at the right time and makes plays because of that. Actually pretty similar to Weddle, but a little more physical. Thats actually a really good thing with how the league is changing, the true in the box SS is failing, which is why i hated Barron. Having another very good deep S, is a very good thing.

That makes more sense. I've always heard that the Chargers safeties don't play a traditional strong or free role..... they have to be more of a hybrid.

That was a cut and paste from Rotoworld. I love that we pretty much sat patient and the felt the need to move up for Taylor in the 3rd, Barron or Smith, I would have been stocked on either one but no more stoked than I am with Taylor
