maybe he could join the chargers front office in some capacity

besides he had a tough time at army because your not recruiting the best players but those who are willing to go into hte military after their college is up. the Job navy's been doing has been spectacular

I'm honestly amazed that Navy or Army can even compete on the 1A level any longer. OK, strike that .. amazed that Navy can compete.. :)

You cant blame the Army's Record on Ross.

His hands are tied, he cant go out and recruit any top prospects. And to get someone into West Point, dont you have to have a Sponser in the Senate?

Now then, if you do make it to West Point, and after you do your tour, now you have to go and give 6 Years Active Duty, The last person that tried that was Napleon Kaufman, and he was only allowed to play while on Reserve Duty.

You have to be one of the TOP HS grads in your region. That usually means a GPA well over 4.0 (through honors classes). Then you have to get a senator to sponsor you. T'aint easy.

I'm shocked Navy is even able to sustain an effective offensive line ...considering the physical standards you're supposed to maintain in the Navy. (Same goes for other military branches, I suppose.)

Hey Leo, you can go to any Military Academy, then after you graduate, and then you have a choice as to what Branch you want to go into.

99.9% of those that graduate choose to go to into the Branch of service from the Academy they just graduated from.

.A buddy of mine at work, his son was given a scholarship to West Point; he was not in the top of his class. He went back there as a Linebacker, and did not make it. They caught him with a "Woman" in his dorm room, and was sent home

    I never knew that...

Either way, I'm still not sure how they operate an offensive line.

I suspect that is why you see a lot of options in those particular offenses. Misdirections and lots of movement ..

A Navy Pilot told me that. I really dont remember how we got into that conversaton, but that is what I remember fom it.
I was along the same lines as you, but if you thik about it, the Marines do not have an Acadamy, but the Coast Gaurd does.
