Caught a rumor from someone I ran into at Trader Joe's, who has passed some reliable info before. To wit-Kassim is here and being prepped so he can be vetted at safety this camp. Anyone in our vast and resourceful peanut gallery catch any other buzz?

That idea has been floated around in Charger forums in recent years... but generally only after the consumption of mood-altering substances.

He's been moved from "gunner"... to "safety"... on kickoffs? :icon_shrug:

Should've kept his mouth shut.

I've read on two other occasions of this being mentioned... I believe one stated they heard it on the radio yesterday.

Well I'd like to see it before I laugh and dismiss it. I don't care how strange it sounds... if it works it works, give it a chance. :bolt:

Kassim has said that he thinks he can play DB. He hasn't though since high school or college, and I doubt he would do well in the NFL.

You never know what might happen when a player changes positions. Dielman went from a mediocre defensive lineman to a pro bowl left guard.

I think it might be ok to give Kasim a shot a safety. If it works great! I just hope they have the good sense to pull the pull on this idea if it becomes obvious it ain't workin'. I actually think it might be a good idea though. I could see Kasim lighting up a reciever crossing the middle.

    Based on...?

Put me in the "if it works it works" column... The guy is a great open field tackler, has a knack for the ball, above average speed and he can't catch. Sounds like a DB to me.

I say put him in even if it doesn't work. Better than what we got already.

    Clinton Hart:
    • Great open field tackler-NO
    • Has a knack for the ball-NO
    • Above average speed-NO
    • He can't catch-YES

I know one thing, QB's wouldn't be able to complete many balls on him by throwing over him. Heck he might be great in redzone defense.

I like the idea :icon_shrug: It's at least worth a shot. Not like anything is final yet - give him the chance in the offseason camps and if it works - goodie for us! If not, he's still a stud on ST.

So much Kassim hate... he says stupid **** and has an ego but he is still a solid player and his role on ST is much more closely related to DB than WR.

He should of practiced at the position earlier. I think he does have the ability to make a good safety. He is fast, hits hard, good at tackling, and can get his hand on the ball (catching it is another matter).

He should of switched two-three years ago. It might be too late now and I don't think the rumor has legs.

Too bad he could of made a good safety.

I'm just glad no one has referenced a bottled of turd polish.

Seriously... you guys are laughing at the idea of Kasim being a starting safety...

I'm still laughing at the idea of Hart being a starting safety.

I had just walked over from Terra after a 2 hr. lunch at Terra's , but my source appeared, at least, to be afloat. He doesn't fill any other role but special teams so they got nothing to lose. He's intriguing from the simple fact that he makes people eat turf. He has speed and he knows how to attack the ball.

If the rumor is true, it's interesting that it's taken this long to give Kassim this opportunity. I'd be very curious to see what he can do with the chance.

I think this is a great idea; I mean we should still draft a high energy hard hitting safety in the later rounds; and as he learns how to be an nfl safety so can osgood; competition never hurts and with the type of athlete KO is he will be fighting for the starting spot with the new player drafted and Hart in no time.

KO can ball; period. Desperate times call for desperate measures for as stupid as ideas like Cro on offense or KO on defense may be we are trying to take a step forward from a season that saw us win as many as we lost. Don't forget the broncos decided not to be in the playoffs; without that we sit out and watch. We need to make several moves and in my opinion trying this out and camp and preseason may prove to be well worth...

I once ate Cap'n Crunch cereal smothered in mustard. Mmmmm... Deeeeelish!!

Of course, I was wasted and it was on a dare.

Kassim is a special teams player. Nothing more.
