Ryan Leaf Is A Wanted Man In Texas
Posted by Mike Florio on June 11, 2009, 9:44 a.m.

Unwanted by the NFL for years, quarterback Ryan Leaf soon will find a home.

    In jail.

Indicted on May 20 for nine counts relating to drugs and burglary, the second overall pick in the 1998 draft remains at large.

“At one point he said he was going to turn himself in,” Randall County prosecutor Lacy Miller told the San Diego Union-Tribune. “He hasn’t turned himself in yet, and if he gets picked up he’s going to be arrested. If he gets picked up out of our jurisdiction, then we will extradite him or use whatever means we have to get him back. Right now he is a wanted individual.”

Leaf allegedly broke into an apartment in Canyon, Texas on October 30 and stole an unknown amount of Hydrocodone pills. Leaf also allegedly took a West Texas A&M player’s Hydrocodone pills and replaced them with fakes.

Leaf had been working as an assistant coach at West Texas A&M. He was placed on leave after allegedly asking a player for a pain pill.

Thats terrible that he's a drug addict.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

I once heard an interview where he said he "hadn't even touched" the millions he received in bonus money.

With Ryan Leaf, it's like Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say:

It's always something! If it's not Gloria Vanderbilt scratching her butt with hair brush, it's Ryan Leaf stealing Vicodin from players he coaches!

So he liked his Vicodin... with his money, he could have bought his own pharmacist. It doesn't take an Einstein to figure that out.

Leaf arrested at U.S.-Canada border, posts bond

    http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11865456

DALLAS -- -Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf posted a $45,000 bond Wednesday in Washington for drug and burglary charges out of Texas after being arrested by customs agents as he returned to the United States from Canada.

James Farren, the district attorney in Randall County in West Texas, said Leaf was arrested Wednesday by federal customs agents. Legal assistant Jennifer Bonstein said Leaf declined to waive extradition during a hearing Wednesday afternoon in Bellingham, Wash., about 90 miles north of Seattle.

Bond was set at $45,000 and Leaf's attorney in Washington told the court Leaf would post the bond and return to Texas by himself. Leaf also was to come back to court in Whatcom County on July 16, Bonstein said.

Bill Kelly, Leaf's attorney in Texas, said his client was returning to Texas to turn himself in by a Thursday deadline.

"I assume when he was crossing the border, they picked him up," Kelly said.

The ex-Washington State University and San Diego Chargers quarterback is charged with burglary to a habitation, a second-degree felony. Leaf also was indicted on seven counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and one count of delivery of a simulated controlled substance.

Leaf coached quarterbacks at West Texas A&M in Canyon, where the indictment was returned in May.

Leaf, who resigned from West Texas A&M after being investigated for drug crimes in November, was working in British Columbia, his attorney said. Kelly, a former head football coach at the college, said Leaf "has been to rehab and successfully completed it."

Leaf, who coached for three seasons at West Texas A&M, spent four seasons in the NFL after being chosen with the No. 2 pick in the 1998 draft by the Chargers.

In his NFL career, which included stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys, Leaf had 14 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. He was better known for outbursts directed at teammates, coaches, fans and reporters.

Under the precedent set forth by the screwed up system in the NFL, he earned it by being good in college.

But, it all depends on your definition of "earned" because I agree he didn't really earn it in the true sense of the word, but he accomplished what the NFL has deemed neccesary to recieve that kind of dough as a rookie.

This could be a blessing. If you're breaking into people's houses to steal pain killers... you have a MAJOR problem!!!

I knew somebody like that. It was pathetic!!!
I was like 22 and working landscaping. Me and a co-worker went to our boss's house to collect our paychecks. The guy asked if he could use his bathroom. Apparently, the boss had valume and codine. He stole all of them.
My boss called the next day and asked if I had anything to do with it. I was shocked. Now that's bad off!!!!
