Former Chargers quarterback Ryan Leaf is recovering from brain surgery after a benign tumor was removed last week.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft experienced dizziness and blurred vision before seeing a doctor earlier this month. He had surgery last week and was released from the hospital on Saturday, according to a statement from his publicist.

Leaf is currently living in Montana and told Dan Patrick recently that he was doing well financially as he recovers from a painkiller addiction.

A brain tumor is no laughing matter. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Glad it turned out ok, hated Leaf during his era here, but recently heard him on 1090 a few times, he sounds like he is pretty cool now. Realizes he F-ed up in the past, and owns up to it.

Exactly. A lot of people were young and stupid once, they just had the benefit of not having reporters following them around. I wish the whole Leaf thing had gone better, but wishing ill upon him because he f_cked our football team once upon a time seems a bit ridiculous.

Luckily the tumor is benign. Still dangerous but not the hallmark "12 months of pain before you die" scenario posed by most brain tumors.
