S.D. land near I-15 falls off list

    <font class="newstext">Early this summer, county Supervisor Ron Roberts suggested vacant land at Interstate 15 and state Route 52 near Tierrasanta as a possible location. But the Marine Corps owns the site, which it calls parcel G, and doesn't plan to give it up. </font>

    <font class="newstext">"It is an environmental mitigation site, reserved for environmental preservation purposes," wrote Maj. Jason A. Johnston, a spokesman for Miramar Marine Corps Air Station, in an e-mail to <em>The San Diego Union-Tribune</em>. "However, some portion can be used at any time for training and/or readiness purposes as our national security mission requires."</font></blockquote>
